As a former data analyst with a superficial knowledge of statistics, I would not consider any of these myths busted unless someone grew out around 100 plants for comparison. I have seen myself that varieties grown identically in the same grow will vary in size and potency. That said, every little bit of information does help to clarify the big picture, just don't think a two or three plant comparison is going to conclusively bust a myth.

I completely agree. I always try to at least 6 plants in a run, usual 9, and there is a lot of variation. Over time running the same strain, I like to think I can see some indications but nothing more. Nothing that make me say for sure any myths are busted or not with my 6 or 8 plants.

yeah Ive seen little evidence to say some of these myths busted Id completely agree with. however the Blade in the Stalk has been around since I was a teenager or far before. tried is many times. its supposed to shock the plant into aggressive growth and/or heavier flowering and improve tastes lol. nope,dont work. Period LOL tried it on dozen of plants over the years,various depths distance from the top of the dirt and so on. nadda. all it'll do is potentially kill or stunt your plant.and thats if it dont get some funky virus from having an open wound all day long.LOL!

That's a bit strong mate! - I don't think you got deliberately singled out as "your myth-bust is a lie" type of deal ... i think he was "generally speaking" from a statistical mathematical and academic point of view.

Understood - but the personal attack was a bit mean spririted considering the vibe that we try to keep here!

Some people love stats ... we're all different which is what makes this wonderful tapestry of life so wonderful.

Oy! Nowhere in that post does it say he personally grew 100 plants either.... As somebody with a Biology Masters, I know plenty about scientific methodology and statistical analysis, and bart' is spot-on correct about sample size,... Truth is, potency will vary significantly even on the same plant, something savvy old school growers have known for decades and has also been proven by direct measurements in lab testing,.... This one of my peeves about such testing and the use of results for advertising; people send in the very best top (exposed) bud they can mine out of a frikkin' pound and send that in for testing, then try to say it's representative of the batch as a whole- ....
Be your own scientist all you like Dagger',... but I don't see how another's opinion is going to "fuck up" your, or anybody else's fun,....

For the record, I don't reckon stabbing/mutilating an auto is such a great idea.... I like to let my s concentrate on what's important, rather than expend valuable time/energy on healing (limited lifespan with autos...the clock never stops ticking!) plus the risk of pests/ disease... and the fact that said disease could spread! Just my 2penneth...:smoking:
