Hey man. Sorry to hear about your arthritis,, but for this you dont have to drum hard at all. Matter of fact, the slower and more carefully you do it the less plant materia will slip through!! Its rather time consuming, but the reward is worth it! Just seeing with your own eyes how simple hash is to make and that it really just is cannabis in a different form is well worth it. Aswell as youll definetly have a few grams of potent smoke rather than just composting the trim! Feel free to share your results with us!! Peace!

I have got to try this after my next cut in a couple weeks. How hard do you drum the panty hose? The length of time to beat it may just kill my elbows, damn arthritis, but the prize at the end should be worth it.

The first time I did it, I drummed about a hour, the 2nd time was about 2 and 1/2 hours of beating the shit out of it... Like you said though it is worth it in the end.... Also you do not HAVE to put it in the oven if you have something you can press hard enough with you can just form it that way.

But after smoking a bowl tonight I got thinking maybe it's one of those things that got lost over time....

I never have,most I can say about old school real world hash is that I've seen the process on YouTube about how it is drummed thru a silk screen then"worked" over a heated plate ( of sorts) using alcohol and a hand worked method,looks interesting ,from what i gather ,it's the heat and hand working that gives it the black color..sound right ??

Not that I could find, also havent found a thread on how to make real hash. that's why I asked.

This summer when I'm traveling if I get a rainy day stuck inside I will type out how to make real hash.

Or this fall when I get back I will dig out my equipment and show how it's done.

Nope, real hash is made with pressure only.

It's done with only resin glands that are all between 66 and 73 microns in size. Then it is pressed under tons of pressure to rupture those resin glands.

Actually with screen sizes anymore it's between 66 and 75 microns in size but don't tell any old time purist that unless you want a lecture...

Anyway, to make a quick and simple black tar hash by hand start with your purist kief (no plant matter or you end up with what we called camel shit hash in the 60's)

OK... put about a 2 - 3 gram pile of your cleanest kief on the counter top then take a pinch and squeeze and rub it between your thumb and index finger until you end up with what look like a few little dark boogers.

Those are used as a starter as the bigger your blob of hash is the easier it is to add to it in size.

Place those little boogers in the center of your other palm.

Take your sticky thumb and push it down into your kief pile which will pick up more kief.

Push and twist your kief covered thumb into the center of your other palm that contains the little boogers that you started with and keep pushing and twisting until you have a bigger booger looking blob in your palm.

Then take your sticky thumb and push it into your kief pile and do it all again. Keep doing that until you have built up a marble size blob of pliable black tar looking stuff in your other palm.

The bigger the blob gets the faster this goes....

Anyway, then pull off a piece and flatten it out a bit and smoke it and tell me what you think.

Oh, and you can use the blob to clean off your sticky thumb and index finger

It sounds pretty stupid typing it out, but because of a combination of friction, body heat, and pressure this will give you the closest thing you can get to real pressed hash.

It ruptures the resin glands just like real pressed hash, just on a much smaller scale and without any equipment.

Yes, except the heat and liquid is not required.

Unless... Maybe those vids are showing older stored kief being used up ? I don't know.

In the early 70's I remember seeing places where they had made basic root cellars and had those packed full of bales of old kief.

The way they made it there back then with fresh kief was just pressed in forms. Same way they had made it for hundreds of years.

That's also how and when hash used to get its stamp.

Here in the US people used to love getting a press stamp. They thought it meant something special.... it didnt.
