Indoor A Sea of Green in Hydro

Thanks brother!
The first thread I posted yesterday is a 2.3x2.3 tent with a 2x2 tray inside. There are 9 of Sawneys Hellraisers in there on self wrapped 6x6 slabs.
You don’t need a reservoir if you’re available to water everyday. You can leave the tray alone without drilling holes for the pump/drain and just top feed the plants at least once a day. Your tent should be 63” tall so you have the option to use a reservoir if you choose too.
The little white plastic clamps are training clips that hold down the branches so they don’t reach the light and help control the canopy.
Thanks. I saw that thread after I posted. I am looking at either the 2.5 x 2 OG Gorilla which is 71" or 83" with the included extension or the white wall 2.5 x 2.5 BudBox which is 79" I like sativa autos, so no shorty tents for me. Do you top feed just so you can check the run off water after it filters through toe cube/roots? Can you bottom feed? I am lazy and impatient rather than cheap, so I would probably just buy the ready made 6 inch blocks.:crying:
So how careful do you have to be with strain selection assuming yu want to grow more than one at a time? Cqan you tie anything down, or shoudl you stick with similar size strains? That may be hard at time. I had a 30 inch tall Fastberry that got that big after topping.

Ohhhhhh.. more Q&A.. love it

Can I pull you on this one m8 please? So does that mean if you were at home all day to water u could get ebb and flow results from hand watering?? The logic of course being that if they're fed 2/3 times a day as required, whether it's top feed or ebb and flow.. the results would be the same??

This is what I'm hoping to replicate in my upcoming experiments  hand watering at hydro watering rates if that makes sense.

Good you’re getting a taller tent. That will give you the option to use a larger reservoir if needed. I use a 7 gallon bus tub reservoir when the plants are small which raises the tray about 10”, then when they grow larger I switch over to a 18 gallon reservoir and that raises the tray 15”. 9-10 decent size plants can drink up to 4 gallons a day and topping off the 7 gallon reservoir everyday becomes a hassle. If using a reservoir you should watch your PPMs carefully and check your reservoir daily to make sure you are in the right range. If your plants are drinking more water than taking in nutrients your ppm will gradually rise and possibly cause a problem. PH tends to fluctuate too but all of this is easy to control and can be done within minutes out of your day.
I use 3 inch tall trays and my cubes/slabs/blocks don’t get completely saturated so I will top feed the plants until I know the roots are established enough in the slab before I start relying on only flooding the tray to water everything. Bottom feeding is fine but I would suggest top feeding if using a 6x6” block to saturate the whole cube. If you find a taller tray to fit your area then start off with a larger reservoir to make sure there will be enough water to flood to a higher level and be able to recirculate the water.
Selecting the right genetics is important when growing this style… as you can see in my 5x5’ tent the canopy is harder to control than a shorter plant grow like the Nugz. Having the extra extension is a good option especially if you’re considering growing sativa strains that will eventually get tall. Here Is a gentleman that I’ve been helping control his canopy so his plants will be able to flower properly. He chose mostly sativa strains and they took forever to start flowering and are hard to manage. Hope double scrogging the canopy will get him through this grow. :rolleyes1:

No problem brother!
You can ask me whatever whenever.

Yes… you can get the same results from just hand watering your cube or slab in a small container. I’ve grown many nice plants that I have no room for in tents by just top watering everyday. If only using a 4x4x4” cube you will need to water twice a day but if you’re growing in a larger slab or block you can get by with only watering once a day. Overwatering isn’t a problem either since the runoff that settles on the bottom of the container eventually gets wicked up into the slab. You will be able to grow your hydro plants side by side with your soil plants without a problem. I’m doing the same thing with the little fast flowering purple Kush plant I took out of the 5x5.

@420autoflower what ppm are we pre soaking our rockwool at my friend?? And are we sticking to that number for a week or so for the lil seedling?? I've got my grodan mini cubes.. woohoo :headbang: :pighug:

Glad you got your cubes bro.
I give the little ones about 350 ppm when they first sprout and bump it up to about 450 a week later.
