New Grower A few questions about Dwc

You shouldn’t need a drip for Dwc. Your bubbles from your air pump popping should keep your medium as wet as it needs to be

Do you have a res or just one bucket? The way I do it is CAREFUL take top off with roots suspended and put in a empty bucket to the side dump out old nutes and clean and add fresh nutes. Make sure you check pH 2x daily morning and night. And until you see roots in water out of net pot top feed with very weak solution bc they need to grow to feed when they are seedlings you add more water as they get bigger you cut back on how much water you give them if you let it drop a lot it's called air pruning roots and you'll get a huge root mass. Any questions let me know I love dwc

Thanks bud ,

It will just be a single bucket I will buy a spare empty for the weekly clean and nute change , my plan was to pop the seed in a glass of water for a day then stick it in a root riot cube and keep moist , then once the roots are showing out of the bottom of the cube to put it into the plastic net and just keep it moist until the roots are below water level then start with a feed schedule . Sound any good ?

Thanks for the info bud

Sounds perfect I stopped using small net pots. And only use my 6" or 8" lid net pot bc of tap roots getting strangled

My plan was to just keep the seedling moist till it's roots where long enough to start with the bubbler , but are you saying I should have it on even when the roots aren't long enough ?

Yes bc your water line will be higher almost to bottom of net pot, then lower it as roots grow into it

Thank you , another question is do I put my root riot cube straight into the net pot or should it be on top of a layer of stones ?

Layer of hydroton then your plant then more hydroton on top. If you have light leaks it will create big problem for you plus your water should be 68 but 72 is highest it should get once it gets higher than it is bad for roots so keep a eye on water temp I am a DWC guy but stop it for summer then start it again once winter gets here. Coco is not my favorite but will work for now

Cheers bud ,

I know I'm jumping in straight at the deep end here with dwc but ideally it's how I'd like to grow I think temps may be my biggest problem which is why I'm going with a led light and grow tent with fans in and out , my previous and only other grow was soil in a cupboard with hps and temps were sometimes nearing 40c haha !! The bud still grew and looked great but didn't give any high really I documented it on here a couple years back but Im ready to start again with more knowledge and an environment I can control .

Thanks for taking your time to help

I don't mate , all I will have is fan in and out in terms of temp control .. maybe I will get one later into the grow if needed , I'm starting from scratch again here so don't have the money to buy 1 this month ontop of my tent , light etc etc , I'm hoping I won't need any a/c .
