New Grower A few questions about Dwc

I don't mate , all I will have is fan in and out in terms of temp control .. maybe I will get one later into the grow if needed , I'm starting from scratch again here so don't have the money to buy 1 this month ontop of my tent , light etc etc , I'm hoping I won't need any a/c .

Your either going to need a an ac. Or water chiller. To keep your res temps down

What do you use ? What sort of price for a cheap a/c , thanks mate

I think my window AC unit was it 100 bucks. I have a dryer vent from one side of the air-conditioner going into the bottom of my tent blowing right on the bucket. Then I made a hole in the van and put my air pump on top of the vent is cold air into my reservoir. You could always use frozen water bottles to until you get an AC unit

I was thinking of the water bottle method but will the cold bottle harm the roots if it's touching them ? Thanks again

Smaller 6000BTU are pretty cheap even new however look used locally first... tons of people sell nice window units for dirt cheap... I’ve seen 6000-8000BTU units go for 30-60 bucks. I’ve even been 10,000+ units that are in good condition go for 100$ when they cost over 300$ brand new.

If it’s a little dirty don’t let that scare you it’s very easy to open and clean a window unit and have it looking like new.

Thanks for that mate think IL go with something I can keep inside the tent and try to get by with the bottle method until then

As to adding water between... the first couple of weeks I just add water then starting the third week when they really start feeding and drinking I add full strength feed.

Hello everyone I will be starting a grow in a couple of weeks and I have a few questions about Dwc .

I will be using a single dwc bubbler and changing the water and nutes every week so do the plants just live off of the nutrients in the water for the week or do I have to keep adding throughout the week ? Also do I need to keep the bucket topped up with water throughout the week or will the water last till the change ?

And how exactly is a water change done ? Do you just prepare your new water with nutes , drain the bucket then add your new water ?

Any help is appreciated and I'm sure I'll have more questions soon so thanks for your patience

First time DWC grower here. PH meter & PPM meter is a must. I have cheaper models and keep them calibrated.
Just as other have said weekly water change with nuites, I also add CalMag & Hydroguard.
I top off the res at least every other day with plain PHed water, to this I also add Hydroguard. Don't know if this is right or wrong but I also have been having water temp problems. So with hopes of keeping root rot away I keep it in there.
Water temp control is also a important issue. Being new and trying to prove the concept I also didn't want to spend for a chiller.
Built a homemade one that uses a small pump, cooler, vinyl tubing, & ice. Works for me!
