Hey guys, just looked around the entire AKR and her bottom leaves are going entirely yellow. I assume that confirms nute lock out? Im heading to the nursery tomorrow to see what they have for me to get a solid ph level of water and soil. Any suggestions? I know I have a soil stick now which most people have dismissed as junk.

And when we figure out the problem, which Im betting will be too high ph, what can I do to save my girl in the immediate future?

just an fyi, i just tested the reverse osmosis water from walmart, and it measured at 8.0. It just depends on the local water source that they draw from and filter. Reverse osmosis is just a really good filter. I sold Culligan water for a short time, and learned all about the different filtration processes. Anyhow, The best method to test ph is a digital meter. No questions about it. one of the better brand names you can get is hanna~thats what i got, and it cost me between $50 and $60. Dont remember. Not sure how much grow big will take the ph down, but usually organic veg nutes bring it down a bit. With all that said, it doesnt matter if your soil is bonkers. Grab your ph tester, test your water and runoff, then well go from there as to what to do to solve the problem. It could be as simple as nute burn, which in case your gonna wanna do a flush on your AKR. You dont want to do that until your ph in your soil is good though. hope this helps!

Alright boys and girls. Went out today and got a ph testing kit for my water. Here are the results:

Straight Reverse Osmosis Water-6.6 ph
Grow Big Reverse Osmosis Water-6.4 ph

Cant afford a fancy ph soil pen until payday, but I did get an individual test kit to see if it matched up what my ph soil meter says, and low and behold the soil is 7.0 ph. Same as what my cheap ph soil meter said!

As for the girls here is the AKR in soil for 28 days now. Note the yellowing of the leaves getting worse:

Here is the La Diva at 27 days:

I did not water them today, awaiting to see what everybody thinks is a good solid next move to save my ladies! Bring on your advice!

Hey bud. That yellowing doesn't look too bad to me. I think the flash on your camera is making it worse, I dunno. That top view looks great to me, man.

What strength veg nutes have you been giving her? Sorry, can't remember. Looks like she needs a little Nitrogen, at 7ph you are on hanging on the very edge of N lockout. Bring that down and when you do, maybe add more grow veg nutes. Again, not sure what you were adding so it may just need to get a lower ph to eat that N up. Hope this helps.

I agree with squid. Youve got a little N lockout due to your high soil ph. 1/2 teaspoon sulfur isnt enough for those 2 and 2 1/2 gallon pots. I believe the rule of thumb is One teaspoon per gallon of soil. So for your 2 gallon it would be 2 teaspoons, and the 2 and 1/2, well 2 1/2 teaspoons. I would message muddy to be sure though, for Ive only had to raise my soil ph with lime. Or at the top right of the screen, youll see the search bar option, type in "sulfur" or "lower soil ph", and it will bring up threads where they talk about it. If you see a thread that say's "sticky" at the beginning~those are the informational threads. Hope this helps my man. I wouldnt water/feed until you fig that out, cuz if the plants arent absorbing the nutes, your gonna have nute build up, which will burn the plants worse.

Growbee is right about the sulfur. Well actually, do you have the powdered or pelleted kind? Powder works faster. I used up to one teaspoon of powdered in a 32 oz party cups for some tests I was doing and it lowered it about half a point. So I would think at least that much per gallon to get it down, but maybe more obviously. And it will take a few days for the powdered and several days for the pellets. Muddy uses the pellet type at least recently and says it takes about 6 days for that to work. And yeah I don't know why I said feed more really. I guess because you're on the cusp of Nitrogen lockout but in the zone for other things to lockout, but right now all that's showing is N to me. Just feed clean ph 6.1 water and let that sulfur do it's thing. You can also add another tsp per gallon of sulfur to the actual water and feed that way.

he said 24oz once a week. with a half teaspoon of grow big to a gallon of water ratio.

Hmmm. I think the Ph tester may be off a little bit. nitrogen really shouldn't be locked out of soil with a legit Ph of 6.8/7.0. The nitrogen lockout for soil is from below 6.0 and above 8.0. Tho I wouldn't recommend anything over 7 in soil. From my many moons of growing and years of growing autos I've never had a lockout with a ph of 6.8-7.0. That's why I asked because I have seen nitrogen lock out from overwatering and they had the same droopy appearance as well.

yeah, i mentioned overwatering a few times to him, but he insisted he wasnt overwatering. So i dont know, im stuck. Anyhow, aptmixx, listen to cap'n cure, hes great help. Squid and I are still new growers, but have alot of research under our belts.
