Fast Buds 1st Grow, FastBuds - Blackberry & Girl Scout Cookies, 250w HPS - Wish me luck...

Looking good Jam.
I wouldn't recommend planting seed on the side of the pot. It may seem logical for easier training but we want happy roots.

Thank Yeats!! Though do wonder why planting to the side would cause rooting issues? From my understanding roots will always search out free space in the soil so this sholdnt make a difference....?

Idk for sure. And again, your logic is sound. I would think I want roots to grow as much as possible before hitting a barrier...side of pot. Once the roots hit that, I think it triggers something, telling the plant it can't grow bigger, due to root restriction. Just a theory. Interesting to know if it holds any merit.

Maybe I will test it on my next grow... Anyway I am not talking about planting far far right/left but defo off center like 25% of the width... Hmmm

Can't think of any reason why it would not work, there is a very skilled grower on here called Hazy who does some out of this world training using wooden canes, he plants two girls off centre per pot and well as you can see from the link below has some very nice results.

Bowl and spoon are ready...I'm eating my words. Thanks for the heads up on that. Great thread.

lol can see where the thinking was coming from, and unless i had seen something like what Hazy did in his thread would had thought of it the same as you, one of the great things about hanging about AFN, getting to see things that educate us and change our ways of thinking.

Cant beat a @Hazy thread, guys got mad skills in both growing and photography and can learn so much from his journals the way he lays things out, if you ever get a change to catch on of his grows live would recommend following along for sure.

I will def be on the lookout. I usually dont jump in, unless it's early still. This may be an exception.

Day 25

GSC has almost caught up with the BB and although a smaller plant has just as many arms and even looks the nicer plant 'to me'. Still kinda learning here.... To train or not to train, that is the question....

Again sorry for the up-side-down images.... gonna try a different phone and see what happens

Day 30

Time to check in for the early flowering period!! Young ladies (no longer girls) have just had their first fully packed feed to include: Acti Vera, Alga Mic, Top Max, BioHeaven, Grow & Bloom... All at 40% of recommended dosage which I intend to increase provided the girls are coping well.

Young ladies are strong with the BB looking slightly mangled and over-trained :pass: and the GSC is actually looking pretty gorgeous with quite a number of bud sites all getting good light (I leaf tuck as much as poss), but both appear to be healthy and strong which is obviously most important. I am not sure how much my training has benefited the growth but i dont believe it has held me back so much either. Yes, the plants could be a lot bigger with many more bud sites, but for a first attempt I think I am heading in the right direction, even if I do only get a couple of ounces after this. You gotta start somewhere right??!!

For the next round I have some pretty frikin cool ideas. I think training could be amazing if done correctly with the right tools, ie. different pots double seeded as @Spanglish highlighted with @Hazy and his amazing grows, however I plan to try using curved wire rods (horse shoe shaped maye using some old wire hangers) placed at different heights and implanted prior to seeding so not to disturb the rooting system. Anyways... We will have to wait a few weeks at least for that...

Moving on.... Some pics.... I even managed to sort the rotation issue by inverting the pics... So looks like BB on the left and GSC on the right but in actual fact its the other way around
