Grow Mediums Steely's first hydro grow. LED DWC.

My roots were getting tangled behind the air tube connecting pump to diffuser (I use the bigger 9mm tubing) so make sure it's not that, the pump was causing the water to flow in the direction of the air tube so I think roots were just wrapping behind it and getting caught, make sure your tubes are clear :) Good going on the reflective material, you can literally cover the whole bucket with that if you have enough. I used some flexible polystyrene from my LED packing and taped it around the whole bucket, saves you 2-3 degrees and stays cooler for longer but yes proper insulation is gonna do the best job. I also had a small fan blowing across and under my air pump to help keep it cool, nothign drastic but every little helps :peace:

Nice one steely, only other thing I found helps is to raise the res/pot an inch off the floor on small blocks to allow the airflow to pass underneath.

Res temp gone down 0.9 C in 6 minutes while cab temp remained same :)

Job done :

Found some old coil formers, perfect for the job.

I have some light brown spots on a few of the roots, some at the top, some at midle at some lower down.

Too sleepy now to take pics but will take some tomorrow.

Hoping it's not pythium, caused by the recent heat and res temps of up to 28C :(

Any advice greatly appreciated :)

put ice in the res, get the temp down! then check to see if it has spread. If it has, get some Aquasheild as fast as you can. It will stop the root rot if you catch it soon enough.

Temp has been good for the past 48 hours.

Pics of area turning brown, if you download the photos and zoom in it looks kind of slimey too :

Plant growth is going well :

Are there any UK growers who can recommend an anti-pythium solution ?

Cheers,

steely
