Grow Mediums Any coco-Hempy growers out here?

I did my first ever grow with coco hempy and succeeded well. Not even thinking other mediums because the ease of it :smokeit:

Tell us about it friend.

Did u start them in small or the final container? Did u use perlite in the res or just straight coco?

Did u feed every day? Even twice a day? Did u ever flush it or just last two weeks with ph water? What nutes?

Justin

I had three different containers; 4 dl, 1 liter and 4 liter. All 8 girls (out of 16 plants) in their final containers.

Coco and hydroton clay pebbles bit over the hempy hole.

I started carefully with pH water only (5,5-6) and had a test cup without a seed that I watered the same as the others and judged the need to water from that cup. After 2 sets of leaves I started Canna A&B 1/3 strength, then ended up over feeding but no burns. I used A&B only with no flush.

About the feed. 4 dl cups (6 plants) I fed by injecting the feed straight in from hempy hole vs. pouring it through coco. The coco stayed moist 2-3 days but the roots sucked the reservoir dry fast so basically I fed the roots twice a day and the coco every 2 days.
1L and 4L containers (2 plants) I fed more traditionally but still replaced the reservoir daily with fresh feed through hempy hole.

Summasummarum: I used coco because I had fear of drowning the seedlings and appearance of bugs, not because "water and forget" as my feeding method shows :D

Edit: For the next grow I start with 4dl, to weed out the males, then transplant to 1-2L container that seems to work best with the strain, Betty Boo.

sorry guys, could I possibly hijack the thread temporarily? I have a question which really isn't worth making a whole new thread for...

I'm going to be starting my first coco run this month coming from purely a soil background, also first my first (coco) hempy too. I've looked through the nutes and started pricing the hydro variations when I noticed there's coco-specific lines available from some brands... Are there any major differences between the coco and hydro versions? Especially in the DWC-esque design of a coco hempy? I'm guessing if I have the option to grab one supposedly tailored for coco I should just do it, but I thought hydro nutes worked fine being soil-less? Damn it, I hate feeling like a stupid consumer. They've got me exactly where they want me.

If one of you coco connoisseurs could clear this up for me I would be most grateful :D thanks in advance

I chose the coco line purely it being my first time and I wanted to dodge all the risks before the grow. Considering the nutes I didn't miss anything, I just run out of time and had to cut early, flowers were forming well. But, Hempy himself was using a hydro line (#11 of the link) I read this and decided to go with coco hempy https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=147954 .

What ever brand you choose and the've got a coco specific one id personally use it but most hydro ones should be fine mate im looking at floranova at the mo and this will do All systems hydro, coco and soil :peace:

Great thread! Thanks for putting it in the coco section!! Off the top of my head I can think of two great Hempy Growers here which are KillaKill86 and WG... I'm not sure if either of them have threads right now but maybe I can encourage them to start their next threads here so the Hempy Folks can grow and learn together as well! even though they are similar (Coco & Hempys) they are different so it would be nice to have some experienced Hempy Growers here! :smokebuds: Glad to see this is all taking off! Coco & Hempys!

can't forget Toke he grows hempy
