Diesel & Cotton Bud - Day 45

Everything is well with my Zamnesia strains. The grow very well and now consume full strength nutes and cannabis plant extract the days where I have water from bubble hash.

Both strains display the classical growth pattern of a sativa and an indica dominant plant, respectively.

Todays feeding was cannabis plant extract supplemented with Liquid Silicone (Growth Technology) 0,5 ml/l 3% potassium silicate.

Diesel, 86 cm.

Jack Herer Day 49

The flush has stopped Cal. def. progression.

So sad to see. I hope it didn't hurt to much, for the long run.
Good to hear! I don't think it will hurt.
Do you know what caused the def?

Lately, I've seen potassium lockout in two plants. One FB Stardawg in my capillary box, where rez can't be emptied during the grow, got symptomes. When I diluted the rez water, progression of symptomes stopped. As my tap water contains 100 ppm Ca, I only lowered nitrate concentration.

Fig. 1. Whipeout Express leaf with P def symptomes.

The other one was a Heavyweight Seeds Whipeout Express. Almost every leaf showd K def. My response was slow. Never saw this pattern of yellowing (Fig. 1) and thought it was nute burn at first and responded by slightly reducing the base nutrient sol'n. Then I changed feeding schedule so base nutes was given at low doses every other watering, while keeping the additives, i.e. phosphate and boosters constant throughout.

Thus I'm forced to conclude high concentrations of nitrate caused the def. Also, it cound be secondary to high ambieng conc. of Ca.

So to the good news!
Whipeout is harvested and dry. The yield was good, the weed tasts good and is very strong. If the K problems harmed her, I can't know before I grow it again. Whipeout Express is on my Grow again list.

I don't think you should be worried for serious consequences in the long run. You stopped the def from developing.

I have been battling Calcium def. on some plants for a long time. I just can't nail it down and I don't have the funds for all the fancy meters. I've been recommended optic foilar...dont want that either. I want to grow in soil and get rid of all these bottles.
Here is a close up of some upper
Jacks leaves.

I don't want to turn this into an infirmary thread. Just thought I'd share in response to you, Dr. Thanks for your time and interest.

That's right, but we need to figure out the cause of your problem.
It would be interesting to see all your feeding data. PM me if you feel like discussing it further.

I've been recommended optic foilar.

I no you don't want use it but so far on the cal-mag issues its done me proud. My last 3 plants didn't even need a cal-mag feed through the whole grow...but saying that my dinafem white cheese is being a bit cal-mag heavy and is showing sings of Cal def and has needed a couple of doses.

Now i don't want to say the nasty words of "bad genetics" and start throwing them around but I've had my first dead start (I would have been pissed if bought singly from a seed bank)... But lets not get our nickers in twist there could be plenty of factors at work here like me being in the groom. So lets not blame the seeds just yet until we see what happen with the next 2. Just to play safe popped the last 2 seeds, i will grow them both if they both show.

@Yeatster, a foliar spray would be good. It is the fastes route of delivery.

I use foliar feeding for extra Ca, as my water holds 100 ppm Ca and may make problems if I increase the water conc. High Ca and high N or in collaboration may give K lockout and has done so for two other strains in my current grow.

@Slater, how annoying. Do you usually have success with those germination pods? In my hands they give a 60% failure rate. I am returning to the moist paper method.
