Indoor Zamnesia Caramel & Mephisto 4-Assed Monkey (Only1Sky)

Well, big mistake putting them under COBs so soon, so low, and with the magnifying effect of a plastic humidity dome. A morning misting set the stage for a serious sunburn. Totally fried the leaves of all of these plants. I gave them a few days to see if they can be saved. Jury is out. They're not dead, but they're kinda on life-support. Growth totally stalled. Here's how they look on day 11:

For eleven days above ground, this is totally pathetic. I'm going to germ another Zam.Caramel, but I'm going to try and hang in there with the two Meph.4-Assed Monkeys. Oh well, grow and learn.

Day 15 and things are not improving yet with the fried babies. Fortunately the replacement Zam.Caramel germ'ed and sprouted. Here's the Caramels on day 15 for the original, and day 1 for the replacement.

The Mephisto 4-Assed Monkeys are also still comatose, so I may rethink my decision about dropping replacement seeds for them too. Here they are on day 15:

Making constant adjustments to the tent environment: raising the COBs up even more, adding a heat lamp to boost the temps that were too cool, and bought a new humidifier (analog) and an Inkbird IHC-200 Humidity Controller to avoid the all-or-nothing extremes that I was getting from an old digital humidifier. Got the environment dialed in now, but probably way too late to help these gals.

Ok, day 17 from the sprouting of the original 4-Assed Monkeys, and I'm dropping replacement seeds -- just happen to have two seeds left. The last time I ran the 4AM strain, she finished around 85 days, so I'm not worried about losing a little time on the front-end of this battle. As long as I can get her off to a health and sustainable start, I should be OK,

I just added the Inkbird to my tent yesterday, along with an Inkbird temp controller.
They are running perfectly, and do exactly what is said on the tin.

I've neglected updating this journal -- too busy just meeting the weekly postings in 5 separate Grow Battles. But I have all the photos and spreadsheet data, so hopefully I can get this journal back on track. I'll start by documenting the Monkeys, then once up to date on them, I'll fill in on the Zamnesia Caramel. If you're just interested in the Caramel, use my ThreadMark to jump right to that section.

With the Inkbird temp and RH controllers I've been able to hit very consistent numbers -- not perfect according to VPD charts, but still seemingly fine for my purposes. Averages have been 77 F temperature and 52 % RH. What a relief and time-saver this upgrade has been for me.

Of the two additional Monkey seeds that I dropped, both germ'ed, but one died after a couple of days -- damping off due to operator error. Fortunately, the original two didn't die, but actually seem to be coming back to life a bit. This shot is from day 23.

At day 26 I was ready to call [HASHTAG]#4[/HASHTAG] a loss, and [HASHTAG]#3[/HASHTAG] a go.

Here's how the first two looked on day 26 -- really pathetic for more than 3 weeks above ground, but they're my babies and it was my fault they got stunted. They're putting out some new growth, but its slow and not healthy looking.

Two weeks later, and things are looking up. Here's the Monkeys at day 39 for the first two, and day 19 for the replacement ([HASHTAG]#3[/HASHTAG]). Since this was the day for choosing my "BATTLE" plant, I obviously had to go with [HASHTAG]#2[/HASHTAG]. By this point, the two damaged original gals are now putting out healthy new growth and seem to be on track -- even if several weeks late for their timeline. Throughout the past few weeks all the plants have been getting a daily misting -- alternating one day with Opti-Foliar and the next day with SM-90.

Day 40. Since the [HASHTAG]#2[/HASHTAG] Monkey was stretching more than the others, I decided to subject her to further abuse, and topped her. Here's the before & after.

Day 49 for the Monkeys (Day 39 for [HASHTAG]#3[/HASHTAG]) and things are looking reasonably well. Pre-flower starting on [HASHTAG]#1[/HASHTAG] and some nice flower development on [HASHTAG]#2[/HASHTAG]. Unfortunately, [HASHTAG]#2[/HASHTAG] didn't continue the stretch much after her topping, so we didn't get the bifurcation and side-branch development I was hoping for. I guess topping on day 40 is way too late, eh. Duh.

[HASHTAG]#3[/HASHTAG] Monkey is starting to fill in nicely.

All the pots show evidence of a layer of sand that I put on top about a week ago. This, plus a heavy dose of Neem Oil spray, is my attempt to battle the emergence of fungus gnats. Unfortunately, since I'm top feeding, the sand fairly quickly dissolved and mixed in with the soil. And the Neem Oil has yet to show results.
