Mephisto Genetics Yozhik's Grow #4 ... HubbaBubbaSmelloScope

Yeah, sounds about par for the course over here tbh. Still love the place though and would never go back to Brexit Britain. I don't have an electric bill anymore and won't ever again as I Iive totally offgrid so the tax doesn't apply to me, but I've paid enough to electricity companies over the years to fund a small war, so I don't feel as if I'm missing out :)

He he he ... I hear ya, but you'll be pleased to know you're a tax dodger!

Good on ya - I'd do the same.
The Spanish govt targeted 'your kind' specifically - those who are off gris and not power grid consumers.
The thing is, when they calculated the guaranteed dividend to Iberdrola, they didn't factor in the surge of people who would be joining the off-grid movement and found they had a massive shortfall. so to avoid default, they imagined up an excuse to tax the sun.

Crazy.

Sun is free.
You pay for the equipment.
Government invents a tax to pay a corporation you don't use, so it doesn't default on the bond payments it guaranteed to its corporate masters.

Hi mate

I think that article has got it slightly confused, as all my research indicates it doesn't apply to those totally off grid, only those on-grid who store in battery based systems / who sell a surplus. I looked into it thoroughly when I bought my farm.

Taken from euroweeklynews.com

"If you live in the Campo, however, you may escape the ´tax on Sunlight´ as only off-grid consumers who have their own, completely independent energy-production systems will be able to use batteries without being penalised.
The tax will only apply to systems that use batteries to store the sun’s power - direct usage, or instantaneous consumption equipment will not be affected."

Taken from renewableenergyworld.com

"Installations smaller than 10 kW and all installations in the Canary Islands and the cities of Ceuta and Melilla (these are Spanish territories in Africa) will be exempted from the second 'solar tax.' Furthermore, installations with co-generation will be exempted of the second 'sun tax' until 2020 and the Balearic islands of Mallorca and Minorca will pay a reduced price. Off-grid installations will obviously not pay any grid tax whatsoever. "

But I've also read in http://cleantechnica.com that politicians were attempting to scrap the solar tax completely if/when parties form an effective government:

Quote "Spain’s solar association Union Espanola Fotovoltaica (UNEF) reports a majority of members in the Spanish parliament have signed an agreement removing a controversial Royal Decree against self-consumption of solar energy, also known as the ‘sun tax.’ The agreement has been made within 100 days of a new government being formed. Although Spain has not formed a government following general elections last year, 227 members of parliament agreed last week to remove negative policies against solar self-consumption should a majority government be formed out of the signatories of the agreement."

But things change over here all the time.. I need to get onto my abogado and triple check. He'll be liable for any tax anyway as he told me I had no liability, so I can sue him for the losses :)

Like most things in Spain, it's as confusing as hell and a bureaucratic clusterfuck!
:pighug:

I hope you're right.
Going off-grid is an essential element of the pipedream.
Gotta do something to alienate from a world going to hell in a handbasket.

UPDATE: Day 33 ... (for some, but not all)

No feeding today.
One of those boring days when nothing happens.
Sun is shining, breeze is blowing, Mother Nature is doing her thing.
I'm surplus to requirements.

Thanks @derek420colorado !

I guess its a case of not seeing the forest for the trees.
For me, it's going sooooooooooooo sloooooooooooooooooooowly.
But then I have to keep reminding myself these girls aren't even half done.

I just have to get them to the line, safely.

Your comment piqued my curiosity, so I went back to the pics to compile a side-by-side comparison, 1 week apart.
