Hey guys!

Just ordered a Systemair RVK Extractor Fan 184m³ 100mm (http://www.growland-hydroponics.com/Systemair-LTI-Extractor-Fan-184ml/h-R100mm). I was wondering if any of you know anything about the Variispeed controller (http://www.growland-hydroponics.com/Variispeed-Fan-Speed-Controller-300W) I really want to purchase it as I want to reduce noise as much as possible and since my tent is only 80 x 80 x 180 I am sure I don't need to run it 100% everyday.

Would this be a good investment?

Cheers!

The fan should be fairly quiet and they are speed controllable.. you could email the supplier to check suitability and at least have some peace of mind.."AFN smoke out"

Thanks for the answer! I am all new to indoor growing so have soo many questions, and I am so happy you all want to take time to help me out! I have just talked to the company and they would be willing to swap the fan for a systemair RVK Sileo Extractor Fan 323m³ 125mm (http://www.growland-hydroponics.com/Systemair-LTI-Extractor-Fan-341ml/h-R125mm) since it is the same price (0,5€ difference). Would it be a good idea to go for that instead, and then connect it to a speed controller to reduce fan noise, or should i stick with the 100MM?

Thanks in advance!

The recommendation is normally to oversize the fan which gives plenty of range for adjustment so that would be a good choice.. :Sharing One:

Nice fan! That'll change your air up to four times a minute!!! Great for flowering...

A speed controller is good. I keep mine on very low for veg'ing and turn it up to reduce heat or smell (carbon filter necessary) as needed. When I get to late stages of flower I turn it up more just to aid in avoiding fungus aka 'bud rot'...

Thank you guys loads! I guess I could run this fan at around 50% as it is notably more powerful and my tent is small. Soooo looking forward to my first grow!
Wanna share the strains I am going to grow:
Amnesia Haze Auto
Auto Kush
Northern Lights Auto
Big Bomb Auto
AK Auto
Skunk Auto
Viking Sativa Auto

I will be planting 3-4 at a time, which I guess would be fine in a 80 x 80 x 180? Any thoughts on this? Will be using a 250W HPS.

Hope these are good choices and tactics! As I said... First grow indoor. So far only I've only been growing photo-period plants outdoor - old school like my hippie dad taught me.

Guys, thank you for all inputs. Really appreciate it!

If you are starting from babies, you wont need to turn it up past low until they're 25ish days old and start smelling and flowering... unless there is a heat problem... i keep mine low during veg to keep in as much humidity as possible.

Happy growing :)

P.S. Love the seed choices. If any tend to get large, you'll have a field of dreams... sea of green... Good luck!!!

Happy you like my seeds choices Rhyce. I remember smoking both Haze and Amnesia when I lived in The Netherlands, but never tried the Amnesia Haze. Would it make sense to do 3-4 at a time (in 3 gallon containers)? I have heard that Big Bomb Auto (from Bomb Seeds) can give crazy yields. I am not all into yields but if it is true that it could give me like 150-200 grams in a tent this size with a 250W HPS I would be happy to grow it on its own to give it place to fold out its wings. Would it produce more if I left it alone?

I use one of these controllers and yes it has dramatically reduced fan noise but at the same time still giving good air flow and negative pressure. I run mine on 1/3 and you can't hear the extractor above the led's now much to the wifes relief
