Mephisto Genetics White Crack and Kis Organics Soil

I stand corrected, my goof ..... Hum 3.5 ounces much lower than I had thought- Really looking at 5 oz. but was cheering for 6.5 - so I’m off again, sigh ..... oh well no sense looking in rear view mirror- our best days are ahead of us .....

With Sam’s grow I had three in cloth pots and strawberry Nugs was the lowest yielder at 68 grams with 3 Bears being the largest at 94 grams - gold glue was in the 80 gram range ...... With that said I hope 3.5 oz is a conservative estimate and you blow past that and all in all if your soil / top dressings are not up/over rim of EarthBox then you probably are only using 5 gallons of soil cause when I did my measure I had 6 gallons in and it was up/over rim an inch or two.

Peace,
MOB

PS Gold Glue and 24K are starting to take off and Nugs is close but not today, roots still forming inside.
Hey MOB, I am guessing 3-5 dried. But with 7-10,days left there is a litle more time to bulk up. She definately has potential to yield 6+ dried, but I feel like the flowering time was delayed and I ZERO top dressings. The Original soil was level at transplant time. I did not add anything else to her since transplanting. I did the popcorn SST and a too dressing with EWC and soil once so far on the next 3. My Fedex updated and Build a soil order is delayed til tomorrow. I will top dress the 3 newer ones tomorrow and then start next Monday as my "work week". Also, the 2 Sour Cracks are doing well, sharing a Junior. 1 is taller and is preflowering faster. I am doing minor candy cane training on them. I will be using the SST on them in a few days. Will hopefully have my new phone and will add pics. Also, I emailed Rootmaker and got 2 of the 18 spot propogation trays for $25 delivered. It was $22 for one of the 18 place trays delivered or 2 for $25 with sale. Use code HOLIDAYS for the extra discount. If anyone looks at my comments and threads from the first day here at AFN I have been trying to correct the Monkey see Monkey do mentality around here when it comes to seed starting and the importance of proper watering for increased Root production. II ALWAYS promote watering around the OUTSIDE of pots to increase horizontal root growth first vs vertical. Roots seek moisture. It makes me cringe to see people watering seedlings directly at the base of the stem. Unfortunately people see pictures of a vast majority of growers around here doing it the counterproductively way and follow them blindly without using their brains. I try to help people on here everytime I see watering by the stem, but only a handful get the concept while the rest keep doing it incorrectly. Then they complain about slow growth. Roots seek moisture. Watering right by the stem gives the roots ZERO reason to grow. They have all the moisture they can handle. Horizontal root growth is more important at the seedling stage, and filling the pots with nice roots quickly should be the ultimate goa. l wil let everone know how the rootmaker trays work once they get here and I plant a few seeds. I am using 1 set for seed starting and the other for Cloning. Totally worth $25 for 2 full trays. I dont start that many at once, but it was a better deal vs buying only 1 tray. Peace, slow

So I sold you on the RootMaker, good investment you find ..... I started using on tomatoes years ago even though tomatoes grow roots like crazy I still went for it and loved the results so naturally I used with weed as well ......

With the RootMaker pot I found a turkey baster works very well for watering and I like to water the corners and let it soak some before dropping a few more drops onto the soil and I totally agree I see water around the stem a lot, oh well you can only lead a horse to water, can’t make him drink ......

Also with RootMaker you’ll need to cut the slides to get the plant to slip out easy - I just snip the corners and rip it down the sides - plant comes out easy and no shock .....

Good luck!

I have a little pro tip I have learned along the way. When filling your small cupsnor pots for seedlings or clones, I fill the cup up and water it to my desired moisture level. Next I push downwards to pack the soil and squeeze out excess moisture. At this time I push UPWARDS, on the bottom of the cup. If done right the packed soil or coco will release itself from the bottom of the cup. Now turn the cup upside down, like building a sandcastle. If Properly hydrated It should plop right out as a whole. This is done again at transplant. For clones I do it at day 5 , this gives the clone root zone fresh Oxygen and roots will explode within a day or 2. But that is with clear 5 to oz cups. I am not sure how much difference these Rootmakers will make, but I have been preaching the concept for 20+ years. I will try my plop out tech on a new Rootmaker before planting seeds, if it doesnt work I will precut the Rootmaker and tape up the side where the cut is until ready to trsnsplant. I am assuming these are durable to reuse?

I’ll have to give that a try ..... Normally i never have any issues getting a plant out but for some reason with the rootmaker I can’t seem to push or nudge it out so I simply cut the sides and peel ....

The pots themselves are not made for reuse but you might be able to get several uses out of - I’ll follow your progress on this ...... Either way you’ll love the results.

If the 5gal looks like she has N overdose, I would be careful adding anything. I am not sure using Teas at this time is a good idea on those? Maybe @Organic Sinse has a good idea for you? What strains are in 5gal? Do you notice a difference in water useage? Are you using Tap? Did you do any top dressings or teas at all on them? If so, whe n and what? I know you and I are used to mixing nutes and feeding daily and I think it makes us over think things at times. I would personsally just add water to those if they look too green. Good luck!
With good soil you may not need much at all, if anything. If they look nice and green I would leave them alone for a bit, then plan on a top dress of worm casting or what ever tickles your fancy at the first sign of fading.
A top dress of castings or compost, top watered in works very quickly.
I like to err on the side of less N than more. One thing that has become popular in the Hemp growing industry has been adding lots of N to their plants in order to maintain acceptable low THC levels, that have been gov mandated.
cheers

Honestly I can't discount my seedling phase being the problem. I think I tend to slap 'em in the final pot a little too soon, then they stall for a bit. As stated earlier, going to work on my germ/early seedling game a bit. Try getting rid of the rapid rooters, maybe up pot once before final. Or it could just be a janky pheno. One thing is for sure -- this one is 3 days younger than the 24CxCQ's in the Jrs and they are kicking it's ass.

I still don't have a cover on the 5gal, lol. On the list! But she is drinking from the res now. Probably 0.5gallons/day.

Hoping to get the old 400w HID running today. Seems my oil heater is running an average of 375w (on 600w setting, averaging on/off periods). So the 400w heater with a built in light should work about the same, and my net wattage for lights+heat should actually go down even if my lighting wattage stays flat.

Oh and I found something today at the hydro store while I was grabbing a new bulb. A liquid BTI product. Forgot the name, seemed like it was originally a garden mosquito type product. I'm going to hold off on nematodes right now and try weekly soil drenches with this crap. I'll give it 2 weeks and if it's not moving decidedly in my direction, I will order nematodes.

You can also lay wet rags over the top and that should help keep those devils out of the pot but get top of pot covered so they don’t spread.

I like the airflow idea for your setup - Last grow when I had some fabric pots I picked up some old Pepsi cases and was using them but I didn’t have any rigid insulation underneath .....

Currently with my SIP Container they are on concrete and the soil temp is 75.5, air 80 degrees and no insulation or warming mat.
We keep the heat about 65, That keeps me at 75 unless its real cold outside. The floor is quite cold to the touch, the house leaks like a siv. Old New England home, use to be a brothel/speakeasy. Happy I am not the owner. The north wall is old ballon framing with next to zero insulation left I'm assuming. Be well OB

With fresh traps, the worst ones are on the smaller Jr. They are coming out the covered alternate feeding hole, and around the stem. The product I snagged is Microbe Lift. I'll be adding this weekly or biweekly top watered in. I'll give it 2-3 weeks of pressure, re-evaluate whether I order me some predators (either nematodes or mites).
