Mephisto Genetics White Crack and Kis Organics Soil

Put a cup over your feeding tube to keep bugs out if you hve gnats. The Junior looks good. Be careful with Recharge. My URB MICROBES believe made my plant get the mag def look. Now she just looks hungry. I will be ahead of the game on my future plants. The WC is bulking up and frosting up. But it looks hungry. I am am going add the Flower mix and a little craft Blend once it arrives. I top dressed with EWC and soil the other day. I now know about the days to start to top dress. I am going to rock the next one's.

Cap over fill hole will do nothing if soil in bucket is not covered with plastic.

I drop a few mosquito bits into the tubes every once and a while, but might cover them. I'm considering making a cover for the bucket, maybe repurpose a shower cap or cut some cardboard. The traps near the Jrs have always been clean relative to the others.

For the recharge, I only top water that in. On weekdays it's plain bottom water only so maybe that helps keep most of it so it doesn't ferment in the rez.

I have a whole bunch of coco left and enough hydro nutes for years. I got my new Meph artisinals. Organic bucket, Organic 5g fabric or coco fabric? Decisions, decisions.

It is covered with plastic. It has a red cap. Check the picture.

Talking five gallon bucket ......

Yup, no cover on the 5g. Considering one. I'm thinking it might help with the wicking, but have no factual basis to back that up lol.

Gotta pack of cover crop seeds I'm going to try on the next organic run.

Yeah it will absolutely hep with Wicking. Less Moisture loss with cap on. You want moisture retention on the cap area to help with top dressing. I actually have a great idea in my head. Those Caps tear too easy. They are not great for frequently removing for top dressing. So my idea is to make a 3-4 inch tall "top dressing Tent". With integrated misting line in each tent. Have a zipper or access point for top dressing. Use a small pump and Mister heads in each tent will keep the top layer moist, not or soaked. For people with larger amounts of Earthboxes, an Auto Mister and sturdy "Top dressing tent" would be very helpful. Having the tent a few inches high would allow for plenty of top dressing. Easy access and Auto Mister would be a game changer for larger scale operations

You don't need a cover crop if you use a cap. I personally think the cheap cap is one of the reasons it works well. Keeps pests out and moisture in for top dressing. I plan on top dressing weekly from late veg til late flower. So I would prefer a better quality cover. My Top dressing tent idea is to address the frequent access issue and integrate misting lines for having top dressing moisture.

Interesting. A more durable cover would be great. For the buckets, I'm thinking about buying some of those foam floor tiles and cutting it in a circle (or two half circles).

Do you mound your Jr higher than the edges? I left a bit of room for additions and I added a layer of straw.

Not overfull on first ones. I have done only 1 Top dressing. Plenty of room, but will be mounded good if you start in veg. My idea is a reusable, durable, and Mister integration into the frame. An easy access zipper to unzip and top dress 3 inches. Having an easy access is crucial for frequent too dressing. I am going to make a prototype. I will have to find the best fabric ro work with. I will us PVC as my structure. The Mister lines will attach to the top middle bar. Running in and out of the upper front and back to attach to the next one in line. However, my protype will be a single unit. I will perfect it before making more than 1. I bought like 20 extra Caps at $1.79. so almost $40. They won't last more than 2 rounds. Too flimsy. My custom tents will be waterproof, durable, reusable, and most importantly easy to use and access. I already have a brand new Mister line setup. So I just need some PVC and corner 3 and 4 ways for the corners. And material. I will use some tarp for my protype.
