Hi All,

Sorry to butt in on a thread but, at $100/£64 Can I recommend the Lutron 212?

You can use this pH Meter in both; grow medium and solutions! Replaceable probes (I broke one but, I'm somewhat clumsy?) are available. It has been a good scientific bit of kit.

I want to thank you all for the suggestions and advices, I chose the HM Digital PH-80, is one of the few models that did not find negative reviews, I also need to buy a dehumidifier for drying room and a new lamp for vegetative... not spare budget for a meter that costs more than 50 euros, my goal is that the meter will last at least one year lol

Can I store the meter with calibration solution?... you guys recommend any brand in particular of solution to calibrate and to store?

Yes you can of course if you have no storage solution for your meter, but just make sure to use PH 4 rather than 7 as this helps to keep the pen as its more acidic rather than alkaline . At least once a week you should refill the cap of the pen with storage solution and with cheaper pens you are best to calibrate them every week for accurate measurements with the more expensive ones you need to calibrate once a month. If your in the E.U. then Growth technology sell storage solution and a cleaning solution along with all the PH buffers you will need for calibrating your pen and they are relative cheep but good quality.

Ordered the meter today, the HM Digital pH-80... also bought a TDS meter, the HM Digital AP-1, found it quite cheap and as it was the last one I took the opportunity, it is a model with many positive reviews, paid 15 euros with delivery (Ebay), the other Ebay sellers are selling the same model for more than 25/30 euros, this seller has sold all in less than 2 hours so I took the opportunity to stay with the last :)

Does anyone have experience with this model to share?

After receiving the two meters will do a review of both...

There is there own storage solution or other brands which are cheaper and you get more. I went for "Growth-Technology" Ph probe refill & storage.

Yes fill the cap of the meter. Only a little not all the way other wise when you place the pen in the cap it will squirt out the top when inserted. Then store it up right in a cup or something.

I always turn it on, tap it a few times on my hand then swirl it in the water a few times before letting it sit for 30-60 secs and then take reading. If your strapped for cash lemon juice is a good alternative to ph down.

I have an HM PPM meter and it has worked flawlessly for almost a year now. Excellent mid-price products.

How often should I calibrate the TDS meter?... the meter is calibrated from the factory with 342 ppm NaCl solution, I found a local hydro shop with HM Digital TDS 342 ppm (90ml) but is quite expensive... can I calibrate it with a 800, 1000 or 1500ppm solution of another brand?... and how to store it?

To calibrate the pH meter the only option I have in the local hydro shop is Hydrogarden pH Buffer (4, 7 and 10)... is a good brand?

The description of these solutions say: "pH 4.01 @ 25ºc" ... does this means that the solution must be at 25ºc to calibrate?... or only the pH meters without ATC need solution at 25ºc to calibrate?

To store the pH meter I have two options, HM Digital (60ml) and Growth Technology (250ml) at the same price (7euros)... probably I'll choose the second option.
