Thank You @archie gemmill ...this is 99% bud, there was probably only 1gram of sugar trim, you are right tho, trim does take forever to make any substantial weight....so this is gonna be a lesson on what to do when it doesn't come out right( I'm winging it here cause I've never had this happen, but I have read about in my research) ,,this is a no heat purge using only a fan,if the fan is pointed directly at the alcohol( I guess ISO would be the same) the fan will blow humidity across the surface along with the air, this causes uneven drying and more water to be reintroduced to the oil( cause the alcohol will pull it from the air),in order to get all the water out,the oil gets overdried( it's purged 100% but it's like dust) and when you go to scrape it with the razor it not only "shoots/flicks" everywhere, you will get a mixed substance that looks like sand with oil drops in it ,one thing you can do ( which is what I'm showing in the pics,is,re-wet it and re-purge it,now, the good oil spots looked nice and golden and had no issues but due to the scraping process were mixed in the dust( see pics) this is a result of using to big of a pan to purge in( smaller pan/smaller quantity the better),so I remelted into a small pan and wil repurge, hope this don't happen to anyone, but the oil is definitely not trash, just try again!!! I did have two of the big pans, remelted into small pan...more info when the second purge is complete...

Sorry pics are out of order...the oil may start to look darker, but will still be good!!

After a second re-melt and purge with the EC the oil was put onto a silicon mat and then given a last very light heat purge to get it to a shatter consistency, this may have to be done a couple time( heat it till it melts, spread it out, then let cool and check for consistency).Once it is where you want it,it can be left to use,or moved to another container or parchment paper..the last pic show the size difference of the Pyrex pans,I started with 2 of the big pans, but remelted it in the small one ..note to self:smaller pans finish better!!!! Light heat can be used the whole way thru, and I usually do it this way, however,it is middle of winter here and it makes it harder to do this outside,I have been having good results ( until now) with just a fan and no heat to remove the EC.Even if the same process and material is used, there are always variables that can affect the process or finished product,my recommendation is,do this as often as you can, make a journal of your process( ambient air temps and humidity play a big part) and your results. Experience will have you making great QWET or QWISO in no time..ps I've never made a batch I couldn't smoke !!

Here's a final report o
image.jpeg
n the latest batch, now, not only did this run fight me the whole way thru,I had to purge it till it was a budder consistency ,the yield was disappointingly low,it happens and I'm not complaining, but as promised this was shown from start to finish for the benefit of the community..Next run will be March 5 or 6..

Comparatively speaking, this batch cost me about 45$ in everclear bringing the cost to make it to approx 6.42 per gram, although it's not my best batch and my new "lowest" return,it's still way cheaper than buying it from the dispensaries..this price does not include the starting material since I consider that free..just my thoughts...peace

i dont think you messed it up at all.its just a different consistancy from what you was aiming for.:pighug:
extractions/concentrates dont allways come out the same, make 1 tiny change heat v no heat/whip v not whipped etc.and the end product is slightly different or completely different.its the variety i like,i like to do more smaller runs mix it up a bit throw in a few variables and then have a look at the end and spot the lil differences between the batches.
im babbling now sorry first smoke of the day kinda does that to me.:gary:

100% agreed @archie gemmill ..I will still take a final weight on the moondust/filter hash since that is usable and also do the second wash, just for a general comparison .i still plan on using the moondust for capsules, but not this weekend( gotta work) ...peace!!!

Here's the report on the moondust from this run,6.05 more grams,I have consolidated both small jars into a pint size mason jar, which is just about full now

@budelee I did my first QWET! I used about 46 grams of fresh Think Different trim and popcorn. The first wash yielded a ton (I haven't done a second yet)!

I ended up mixing it with PEG 400 and a little VG and I got 12 vials of oil for the e-cig. So, so happy!

Very nice @MediJane !!! Post us some pics!!! If anything I posted or said helped you out that makes me smile, but u did all the work and put the para of not doing it right behind you..Its an awesome and crazy ride from here on out ,I barely smoke flower any more,I just grow em to harvest their organs...lol..Peace out MediJane ,extract safely and Happy Sunday to you !!!:bighug::stir:

Thank you for the awesome rep!! Yes, I learned so much reading your thread..; Thank you! I wish I had taken a picture of all the oil in that dish. I will snap a pic when I do the second wash. Think Different must be a really resinous plant! I get a ton of oil when I rosin press them too. ;)
