Hey Maine, I'm just sick to my stomach once again reading what happened to you brother, my deepest condolences.
I don't know if you have checked into the growing/possession laws for Washington State. We have some of the most liberal growing laws, as well as the amount you can have in your possession as a legal MMJ patient in the country, and it is quite easy to get a "prescription".
Just in case you don't know here is a run down of our growing/possession laws here for MMJ patients.
A MMJ patient with a "prescription" can grow 15 plants, and have in his/her possession, 24 ozs of dried MMJ at any given time, which is considered a 6 month supply of medication.
A MMJ patient can become a designated " care-giver/provider" for up to 10 patients. Even with just one patient that has designated you as their " care-giver/provider" you can grow an additional 15 plants and have an additional 24 oz in your possession.
With more than one patient that has designated you as their " care-giver/provider" you can grow a max of up to 45 plants at a time. I'm not sure if you can have an additional 24 oz of dried MMJ, or if 48 oz. is the max, I haven't looked into that as 48 oz. is more than I plan on having at a time anyway.
My wife and I are both legal MMJ patients in the great state of Washington, so I am taking full advantage of our legal rights at the (state level) with my first grow which I am currently on, and so growing 30 plants right now.
But, as I'm sure you are well aware, due to the fact that MJ is still classified as a Schedule 1 drug at the Federal Level, they could bust you. I haven't heard of any cases of that though for patents.
The Feds did step in, in 2011 and shut down the dispensaries. There were no store fronts for a year or so, but you could still have a "delivery service though" Now, almost everyday there is a Co Op (dispensary opening up) store front opening up almost every day.
Even though we were the first state to legalize it for recreational use (we beat Colorado out by a short amount of time.) It is still illegal to grow or buy, if you are not a legal MMJ patient. The only rights recreational users have at this time is that they can have 1 oz. in their possession, and they will never be able to grow, unless they jump through all of the hoops to become a commercial grower. I don't know what that entails, as I don't plan on going down that road. But, that still not affect us legal MMJ patients.
If you want or need any other information concerning Washington State, don't hesitate in PMing me, my brother.
Know that you do know someone who who lives here in Washington (me). I consider the people here at AFN as family, every one has/is been so good to me in the short time I have been a member here.
I'm not getting into my troubles From last year- or why I suddenly was gone- before the site went down- but needless to say. I know that bowel loosening feeling all to well. Good luck.
Mr Coolbreeze, I'm truly sorry to hear about the your " troubles" from last year. It just infuriates me the draconian MJ laws at the federal level. Especially with alcohol being legal but not MJ. As we well know there has never been one documented case of anyone ever ODing on MJ, but we certainly know that is not the case with alcohol. I personally know several people that have died, due to alcohol, including family members. I'm not slamming alcohol here, just saying.....
Mainemedical, keep your chin up my brother, and again know that I am here to help in any way I can, as I know many others here at AFN are.
I need to go tend to my legal ladies right now, so I will be offline for a while, but will be back on shortly.
Peace to both of you today.
Your brother Stick.
