Grow Mediums Whats wrong with my babies?? Please help!!!

cool g ,much better idea of whats going on now!. Im going to make a drastic suggestion bro !!!. You may not like it & it is only a suggestion ok.

It took me a few months of fails & an entire 1st grow of a single plant ...with loads of help along the way ,to get to grips with everything .If this is your 1st grow then staying on top of 7 girls may be a bit to much .So I would recommend you get ONE DWC bucket up & running & give one plant your full & undivided attention.... Jump forward 10-15 weeks & you will have such a better idea of how your system , nutes , meters , PH & PPM all work .Then you may be ready to tackle a more challenging grow. You can get some awesome yields from a single plant in DWC g,man ...I hit 8oz 1st grow & should do better this time round with all the knowledge gained :shrug:Have a think about it bud :peace:

As for me it looks like hydroton was not clean enough or was buffered with nutriets :s oO. Never use ADNphperfect on full strength, even on the end of the grow when I have a huge monster they can't uptake the 70%/100% strength. I didn't know that adn 2 parts is organic nutrients (FCK this declare much to me now!). I saw you have some nasty powerful airpump (it can be also reason of weird ph issues).Do you aerate your res 24/7? Try to aerate it just before feed, like 30min or 1h before they will get there feed. Ph perfect is ph perfect in dirt and not in ro as they say (maybe on full strength, but it will kill your plants even with ph of 5.8 :D)

Are you sure that your ph/ec meter working fine and it is calibrated?(check the battery as well, it could be the reason of weird readings, or water leak can cause it as well - I had it already :(). The signs of cal/mag deff could be from multi nutrients lockout (ph swing :PH 4-->6.5). When you use RO you definitely need cal/mag in your res, despite they say you doesn't with 2part formula(bull sh..). Always add it first to your RO water and wait 30min(boubble) and than add the 2 part formula and than some of the additives(if you have some). Phing adn nutrients seems to be not the best practice as for the first couple of days ph go up even when you add ph down and than it start to go down.....(I still use ph-,ph+.....).
You using drain table and more of usefull information you will receive from "tavidude" and he use pure water as well, try to ask him

alright so heres one of the plants i effed up whether it was because of a defiency or overwatering or cause the ph was too low, its pretty effed up. i took ViracochaDWC's advice and transplanted the healthiest looking think different from the table to a dwc bucket. i took some extra hydroton and boiled it then cooled it before transplanting. after adding RO water and qtr strength nutes im at a ph of 5.6 and ppm of about 300. as much as i didnt wanna hear that suggestion, he's probably right and i did jump in the deep end before learning how to properly swim. hopefully if everything goes well in the bucket ill be able to save a few more that were in the table and switch them over also (out of the 7 i planted maybe 4 looked salvageable including the one i transplanted.)

komach- i do think the hydroton not being properly cleaned was my problem. no matter what my ph was in my res, after feedings it always dropped almost a whole ph point! my res was being aerated 24/7 to keep the water from becoming stagnant. i never knew that could affect ph readings tho. my hannah combo meter is working properly and has been calibrated correctly. ive heard of cal mag and a few people here have suggested it but how much do i need to add? one of the sole reasons for my scrog idea over a table was because of seeing tavidude's success! that guy is the bee's knees brothaman. damn near every grow ive come across on here from and he killed it. not in the bad way either. HUGE buds and HUGE yields.

ideally what id like to do this weekend is get all the hydroton off the table and in garbage bags and thoroughly clean what im going to use (boil with watered down bleach maybe??) and get the res and table outta the tent for now although i do plan on using it down the road. i have some buckets i could finish rigging up for dwc and i also have 4 cloth pots for soil. the think different and bubblelicious i have in the solo cups in happy frog are doing well. hopefully i can at least use 2 of my cloth pots and get another bucket up n running and have 4 plants going. the only problem with my dwc bucke

t not is keeping the water inside cool. i was dropping frozen water bottles in yesterday but i can only do that for so long. anybody ever use a recircul
ating DWC system? if so does anyone have any plans tips or tricks for them?

thanks in advance! you guys are really awesome for walkin me thru this

Boiling will be enough no bleach needed. And don't forget to soak hygroton in phed water 5.7 or 5.6. To much air can affect ph of nutrient solution, boubbling water for 24h can not do any harm. Cal/mag from adn is good and you can add 20/100 and increase if needed. Weed can survive extreme conditions, don't trow tham away before you 100% sure they are dead (ask vira)

sounds like a plan g,man .Im sure tav would be happy to help with the flood & drain table mate ?. cal mag gets added after week 2/3 ?. very low dose (5 ml ish) & worked up 1-2 ml every week from there .

A root stimulator would be good if you have some & ok with your nutes ??. And yea bro ... the Mazar im growing now is BIG !!!. & was left for dead in the cab for over 48 hrs ,No light ,pump, ventilation ect ... 50oF max temps & when I came back it had loads of fresh green growth & white new roots in the net pot , so any one of your babys could turn out fine if dialed in asap :smokebuds:

so I ended up transplanting all but one (TD) into soil and have just been giving them RO water as needed. they all appear to be taking well to the stress I've put them under. the one TD I have in a DWC bucket is looking better also. the ph is steady at about 5.6 with ppm around 300. roots are even starting to grow out into the water below! the one bubblelicious I had originally planted in soil looks awesome for it only being in there 8 days. real dark green leaves and toms of new growth. as for the TD I originally planted in the soil, it looks retarded as hell. it's so tiny and the leaves are dark green but are skinny like chicken bones. I don't know what's wrong with that one. it's happy frog soil and I've just been giving it regular RO water with no nutes. ill get some pics up tomorrow or as soon as I get the chance. thanks for all the advice. ill definitely keep updates for everyone interested. feel free to share anymore tips or pointers. thanks in advance again haha

mailaaaaaaaa.jpgmailaaaaaaa.jpgmailaaaaaa.jpgmailaaaaa.jpgmailaaaa.jpgmailaaa.jpgmailaa.jpgmaila.jpgalright so heres the plants after transplanting. i followed viracocha's advice and just left one TD in a dwc bucket (which is doing great by the way!) and transplanted the others into soil. they all appear to be quite resilient and recovered with little signs of stress from the transplanting and conditions they were under. all in all theres 13 planted- 5 bubblelicious. 4 northern lights. 3 think different and 1 power skunk (photoperiod/freebie) i know im only a few wks into it but im so damn anxious already haha.

hows the DWC going bud?. :bong:

sorry I've been busy workin an tending to the girls so I haven't had much time to sit down at the computer. sadly
enough, I transplanted the lonely think different that was in the dwc bucket today. it was getting too damn hard to control the water temps. they were constantly going above 72 and I was changing the frozen water bottles in there every few hours. I'm currently looking for some plans for a recirculating dwc system so feel free to share if anyone has
some. all my plants in soil look amazing I think. big dark healthy green leaves. a few of them are even starting to shoot off hairs and flower I believe. ill eg some pics up tomorrow for those interested. thanks again
