New Grower What do you think about defoilation?

wow, holy shit, wtf.
first off, sorry for my explanation,i did not lollypop this plant. it does look like it I guess.
Second sorry for saying I stripped her naked. what I meant was I did take leaves off the top and middle sections and did remove some lower limbs over the course of over a month and if need be,this late in flower I will continue to supercrop and remove some leaves if I think it will help.
This was not done all at once, this plant is 70 some days old.
now after 1 month of a plant that wasn't a ft high and thickly covered in hand sized leaves, that's when I really started removing leaves.
Now say what you want but every time I removed some leaves within 2 days other leaves had moved around and a growth spurt.
I understand its supposed to stress the plant but what I have seen is growth spurts instead.
Almost all those branches have started growing scince I did my defol.
I'm sorry for misleading anyone here, that is why I said I'm done here, I am new, only growing for 4 years so I have come to the conclusion I should just shut up.
I did not mean for this thread to get so heated.
Don't know whats right or wrong but at this point- I don't care, this works for me, I shall just shut my mouth and do what I do until I learn more.
I'll take my 8 oz's and be happy, its better than the 3 I might get if not touched.
just my noobie opinion !!
I think it's good to share what works for you. I'm always wary of people who say their way is the ONLY way. Growers will probably dispute defoliation for years to come and I don't necessarily think there is a right or wrong way, it all depends on the person, growing environment and the strain of plant. No need for apologies

What i like is that people are at least thinking outside the box and trying things, again i use all sorts of methods and combinations of methods to make the plant do what i want it to do for my enviromnent, would i like to grow an 8foot natural plant, well not really cause thats just boring, like letting the plant tell you what its gonna do,i cant have that!!! I have topped plants like resin hound,i have grown non topped and scrogged plants,i defoliate( to some extent),both styles with different results, not all training methods will increase yield( i also have a current mainline plant)and ive documented results with my attempts to show the good and the bad,,...one thing to think about when comparing cannabis in general is ,yes, they have grown for millions of years,in different spots around the world ,sunny/not sunny, long season/short season etc..,and because of this they have different traits and requirements, knowing what crosses you have( from the landrace genetics) will help ensure you know what it needs, then, manipulate it from there...defoliation always leads to a debate, but that wont stop me from keeping that tool in my toolbox, cause i might( and will ) use it ...peace everybody...

Well it looks like I'm going to be attacked personally for my views, what a shame. I came into this thread offering my opinions and what I've researched and seen with my own eyes. But it seems this is not the place to have discussions without being attacked personally. Too bad. Carry on. I remember now why I rarely post here.

Apology accepted brother. Let's just keep it civil and cool, and we can keep posting if people want :d5: Passion's a double edged sword (and trust me, I say this as a guy who has this vein that pops out of his neck when he gets on a ROLL lol!)
Soooo... do you defoliate? LOL [emoji16]

@Resinhound , dude i appreciate your view whether it be what youve done, researched.learn, taught etc etc.
But its your way or the highway, everybody else is wrong.
I think maybe you just want a debate not a discussion.
You came down on my and others posts pretty good there, my fault for saying i stripped her naked,i never once said i lollypopped her and flat out i was wrong.
Just seems all these excellent growers are not doing what your doing because of everything you know so science wise, were all wrong and can do better so....
How about the proper way to grow pot, you know, a rightup from start to finish how we should be doing it.
In tight quarters for me would be a big plus.

Hey bud..I think its the one way street angle you are posting from that is the problem. Not the content of the posts. Many of us are open minded toward techniques considered taboo, and when folks come down on others for using off the wall techniques it can be taken as aggressive and unproductive.
I apologize if our conversations made you feel uncomfortable or unwelcome, just had a shitty day yesterday with tons of pain and limited sleep, and to be honest I don't appreciate techniques I use successfully to be called wrong, nor being told that if I refined my technique to the tune of commercial growers I would pound on additional weight. Honestly most commercial growers can grow tiny plants well, but most have never even seen a 7 foot tall plant 30 feet around the outer perimeter. I mean I scour all over the net and you know how many 3-5+ pound outdoor cannadian grown plants I have seen other than my own? I can put the grand sum under 4.

Just remember this...science is only as valid as the scientist doing the experiments. There is many things in this world that science cannot explain. I believe the future of growing will not be paved by commercial grower or even scientists, the future will be paved by homegrowers doing their own experiments.

Agreed 1000%
When I read about controversial topics, it makes me want to try it myself and draw my own conclusions. Don't transplant autos? Umm okay...had great success doing standard proper transplants...don't supercrop autos? Same.

I agree. And I love the puppy! :)

I have one plant out of 7 that is very short and very bushy SO i am gonna have an experiment and defoliate.
I will post a picture of before and after. I think the advice is to take off a few big leaves every couple of days.
Stay posted for pics and if anybody has any tips great
A
