DIY Wetwoods // DWCR Build

OH that might have been an oversight haha... but i did get heavy duty net pots, pretty solid plastic with a bit of flex. will let you know how the hold

Heavy duty or no - I have never been able to savage a net pot after a grow. Sometimes the roots get as big around as my thumb. If roots can brake concrete and sewer lines, they will definitely feck up a plastic net pot.:2cents::pass:

Good luck with that. I don't spend more than a couple of $ on a net pot as they are expendable. I see you plan to use sm-90 - a good idea especially if your tent gets warm. Helps to fend off the root rot. I live in a hot area so that's always a concern for me. My tent hit 90f yesterday and I don't even have the cobs on yet. I use sm-90 and a chiller in each res and I have managed to avoid root rot issues so far - touch wood.

Its pretty cold in scotland. Think max tent has hit was 35c... going to still use the sm90 just need to see how much it effects ph and fix accordingly. Just reading through ur thread now.

Ah another crazy Scot - have you met @hairyman. He's up in your climate and he's been around for awhile. A good one to follow as he's always got some kind experiments going.

Appologies kushedy just noticed this message. They are very good quality pretty impressed actually if you want any pictures or close ups let me know.

Thanks for getting back to me. They look pretty good in the pictures you've uploaded. My build is on hold for a while but I will be ordering a few of these in a couple of months to test them out.

I haven’t run dwc for years but am looking forward to having another crack at it. I saw that you mentioned using SM90 as a root rot preventative. It may help but, in my experience, you are best off going the sterile res route or using beneficial bacteria. Sterile would be my preference but that's obviously up to you. Once you’ve had root rot once there is a likely hood that it will come back to haunt you on future grows. That sh*t is virulent. I’ve heard of growers binning they’re entire systems & replacing with new to avoid re-infection.

Oh forsure was one of the reasons i changed from rdwc to single dwc just to limit the chance.

Id like to have as clean enviro as possible but same time i need easy of use. And iv been told no more spending boooooo....

The buckets are really good quality must say very happy wish they were cheaper but i think the quality shines through.

They are about 22 ltrs cap but with my netpots ur looking at 14ltrs.

I have gone the opposite direction.
I have a 50W aquarium heater in each reservoir to maintain water temps of 22C to 23C.
I make a 'Heisenberg tea' every 10 days (about it's maximum life-expectancy) and add 200ml of this every 2 days (400ml on res change). I store the tea in the fridge to prolong it's life.

Here are my roots on day 27:
full

They are perfectly healthy and the slight brown colour is from nutrient (and tea) stains.
Doing it this way maximises root growth and the water is absolutely loaded with beneficial bacteria and fungus.
This prevents the pythium from getting a foothold as it is simply outnumbered.

Yeah I would love to have my res stay at 22-23, but with my temps 27-28 is the best I can manage. Your roots are looking good. Mine also get stained from my nutes, mostly AN B-52 which contains iron.
