Extraction Welcome to the DIY vape section

I had nothing but burnt and clogged carts using rosin that is why I moved to QWET that is winterized. I am now using the Ccells with MassTerpenes Liquefy and so far they are running ok but I have just started. The Liquefy has "esters" in it. I do not know exactly what esters they are talking about but it seem to help with the wax problem. Not sure I like the idea of vaping it though.

I soak used carts in pure ethanol and reuse them. It does not always get rid of the burnt flavor.

How do you winterize rosin without diluting it with something?
I dissolve the Rosin in Everclear and put that solution in the freezer for a couple of days. This will make all those fats and lipids to separate out and solidify so it can can just be strained through a coffee filter and removed. Then purge the Everclear like you would with QWISO wash.

@Mr.Prospector I have whole thread on using 185 Proof. It is in this forum "QWET to Vape" check it out. Quick Wash EThanol, I have done it fresh frozen larf, frozen bud, long soak, short soak and on and on............

I started reading it last night. I considered QWET for my carts, since I was using alcohol to winterize anyway, but didn't want to get all that chlorophyll. Figured if i extracted with no chlorophyll by pressing rosin, i could then wintetize without worrying about it... but I see you have been working that color issue out...with spent rosin pucks even.

I think we're both working on the same issue... Producing carts without any PG, PEG, VG, Etc. I like what you're up to! I use just enough Liquidizer to allow the bubbles to work themselves to the surface because I want to limit ANYTHING extra I add.

Exactly.

I made a cart with Blueberry rosin and the Liquefy using a Ccell on a AtmosMR50. Two small hits, beautiful flavor and huge buzz. This is so much less work and just what I was looking for so far. We have to see how long the cart will last. So far it is a winner!

Where do you order the Ccell cartridges from? Also, where do you get the batteries from? Is there a big difference between the different strengths of batteries from a vapor quality perspective? I really like the one I saw on Massterpenes or that other site you recommended that folds up like a keychain pocketknife, but I wasn't sure if you could put a Ccell cartridge on it.

I got the Ccell carts from sneakypetestore.com and the AtmosMR50 direct from Atmos. I got tired of whimpy batteries and this is not wimpy.

How much loss do you have after winterizing the rosin. Like 1g in ? Out?
Working with rosin or QWET will have some handling losses. It takes practice not getting that sticky stuff everywhere that you cannot recover it from! The amount of loss from winterization depends on the amount of wax in your rosin. I have a plastic Buckner filter that I put in the freezer before filtering and working very fast so the QWET does not warm and allow the wax to pass through the loss is ~15%.

The thing is I am trying to eliminate the need to winterize. So far the MassTerpenes Liquefy is working to do that. A huge benefit is the terpenes in the rosin remain and the flavor is excellent in the carts I have made so far. Green Crack, Wild Thailand and Blueberry all taste like the buds they were pressed from. I press at 185°F for 5 minutes to preserve and extract as much of the terps as possible.

From an ounce of rosin, you lose about 3-4g of weight. Like Mañ'O'Green said, definitely less than 15%.

How much liquidizer do you use? Winterizing helps you use less...saving you money AND keeping to your final product more natural.
