New Grower Wedding glue, DIY light & box, arduino controlled, DWC, Canna aqua

Hi,

only short update today.I switched to big light today 3* Vero 29, 3000k 90CRI @1050mA. PPFD is cca 850-900. Ph is 6.2, water temp ok. So everything runs well.

@Corum59 Good job, love it. You wrote you can add more cobs - you have more drivers?

nice work, 3 cobs @1050ma must be producing a hell of a lot of heat, I could be wrong but it does look like you have some light burn/heat stress going on there...

have a look at this article LED Too Much or Not Enough Light? | Grow Weed Easy

My driver is good for 4-8 cobs, meanwell HLG-320H-C1050A

Hi,

temperature is stable it is controlled by arduino, sensor is aprox at the height of buds.

Tipburns are apparent, not sure if it is light burn (but unti today there was only 1*cob @ cca 60w), or result of higher ph and rise of ec for a while few days ago.

EC now is 0.9, ph is in range given by canna (5.2-6.2) and light level was lowered to 800-900ppfd.

thank you for that article. Good reading. There on photo of light stress were leaves yellow on all parts, my leaves have only yellow tips….So still not sure why…..

its always a bit of a guessing game when things look a little off, or not quite right, I find that liting the light never does any harm, yellow tips can indeed be a sign of many things, if they start browning, over feeding, paleness spreading light burn, heat stress, fan burn... just gotta go with the flow and keep an eye on developments, you seem to be on top of it all, I am sure it will be ok. :smoking:

looked at them again, tipburns are on down branches as well….

I will keep light aroud 800ppfd for a few days

Light levels are close to the saturation point. It looks like some of the leaves are "tacoing" and it looks like there's discoloration of the leaf tips. Those could be symptoms of too much light.

Thanx for advices, maybe this plant is more sensitive for light than flowers i have grown before. Lets see what will happen with lower ppfd.

Its all good, growers grow by sharing what they know.... although in my case I sometimes wonder if its just what I think I know :smoking:

I also keep track of the electricity used, all cost incurred actually makes it seem more of a score at the end of the grow, not so much on the last 1 plant grow, but usually. keep up the good work.

I do the same, that is the main reason I built my own lighting setup. I run my led's at their most efficient point which is a fair bit lower in output than most any commercial lights run their led's. My hardware costs are much higher running the led's at 50% of max but longevity and efficiency are at their max, so I have to have more led's in my lighting array for an equivalent level of light.
