Hey everyone. I live in UK. Going to try my first grow, just one plant of auto flowering blue mystic . I will be growing outside in a greenhouse.
Need advice on everything....
Germination process
Soil to use
Watering process
Pot sizes and if I only use one pot?

Pretty much need a step by step guide if anyone can help.
Thanks

Hi Ricky! Welcome to AFN! :D

:welcome: :welcome: :welcome:

I can help make it really easy for you! ^_^

One pot! Great!
I'd 100% buy a single Autopot setup with a resevoir!
They're 20 litre pots i think.

You can follow my threads for watering guides - there's plenty others too! Youll be hand watering for about 20 days ... then turn on the autopot ...fill up the rez and your watering issues are OVER! :D

I'd also take a look at (and buy) the Biotabs starter pack! It's got more than you need in it.. but will make for a perfectly easy grow!
I'd buy Biobizz lightmix soil (can be bought online from most grow shops)

Germination!! You need a germination station!! (that's overcomplicating what it is)

1 small box (like dvd sized)
1 small zip lock bag
1 peice of kitchen towel
2 seeds (what?!?! lol)
A heat source (like a tivo or sky box or .. something warm)

Put the seeds in the Kitchen Roll and fold it over a few times.
Moist the kitchen roll (dont soak)
Put the paper towel in the zip lock bag.
Put the bag in the box
Put the box on the heatsource
(This is a good time to put 1 litre of water in your pot with soil in (not with seed in))

Come back in 2 days and see the condensation in the ziplock bag and open up .... Voila! 2 seeds with tails ready to be carefull dropped about 1 inch down in soil and lightly covered.

1/4 of a clear plastic cup of water around the seeded area .... put the plastic cup over the seeded area ...come back 2-3 days later and it's sprouted ... then take off the cup and gradually increadsing the waterings every couple of days with the cup. Temp needs to be around 80f

1/2 a cup on the inside ... 2 days later 3/4 a cup around the outsides ... 2 days later 1 cup in the middle ... build it up etc etc .... day 20 you hope the leaves will reach the edge of the pot .... and voila - Y ou've rocked it ... turn on the autopot and go back to bed,.

I'm certain this will help! :D

All the best
Blue ^_^

:d5:

Edit .... Why 2 Seeds ..... I like a choice in my one pot ... and maybe one will fail! If they both come up ... great! Pick the fastest and strongest looking ...

Edit 2. ... Can't miss this opportunity!

Thank you so much. :thanks:. Sorry to be a pain but couple more questions.

At what point do I add the biotab ingredients to the soil?
I have read about buying a pH tester and making sure it is around 6 is this correct?
Do I need to layer the soil with nutrients?

Stick em in straight away.. they take a couple of weeks to start breaking down anyway and there's enough juice in the soil to not have to worry about it.

I've not used my PH pen since i went biotabs (/easymode organic), up to you! The biobizz will buffer the PH to some degree, so as long as your not in a really high or low PH area, it should be fine to use tap water (i dechlorinate mine by leaving it to stand with an open lid for 24+ hours). If you're really concerned early on - buy the tescos own brand water. its 6.2ph.

Wont need to layer the soil with nutrients, although it is a good idea to follow the biotabs prep guide ... you can mix in an amount of startrex to make the soil extra lovely. and maybe some of their bactrex (mycos) 5 or 6 inches under where you are gonna drop your seed.

So just to clarify as I'm abut nervous about the process.

Day1
Mix biobizz light soil with biotab in 15 or 20 litre pot.
Germination process 2 days

Day 3
Plant seed with tails 1 inch down in soil, 1/4 cup of water and put cup over seed. 2days
Day 5/6
Once sprouted take cup off and increase water slowly every 2days.
Day 20. Pot in autopot reservoir and wait until its looking ready to pick and dry.
???
Also if I didn't want to spend the money on the autopot does it just mean more work for me with scheduling watering just wondering about cost saving.

And if I was to buy a grow kit for indoors do I just follow the same process.?

Thanks again Blue for taking the time to help.

2 Biotabs ... pushed down 1/4 of the way down in the pot about 6 inches apart (not in the middle where the seed goes (IMO))

Day 3
Plant seed with tails 1 inch down in soil, 1/4 cup of water and put cup over seed. 2days

Yeah, if the tails are there! don't forget to cover the dropped seed lightly with soil. And it's a clear plastic cup.

Once sprouted take cup off and increase water slowly every 2days.
That's it!

Day 20. Pot in autopot reservoir and wait until its looking ready to pick and dry.

Day 20 - I'd have the pot in the Autopot tray since day 1 ... but no water coming through (so bascially don't fill the rez until day 20(if the leaves have reached the side of the pot))

Also if I didn't want to spend the money on the autopot does it just mean more work for me with scheduling watering just wondering about cost saving.

Yeah - and also not just more work, but efficiently watering can make a huge difference to the overall plant health and production. Autopot does a great job at watering as the plant only takes what it needs and there's a constant supply.

And if I was to buy a grow kit for indoors do I just follow the same process.?

It's the same process - only you have more cost for light... tent... extraction .. environmental control.

I grow in such a tent indoor with the same process.

Thanks again Blue for taking the time to help.

You're most welcome! ^_^

Edit: Don't forget to give the pot some water (about 1 litre i think) when you start the germination process .. you don't wanna drop your seed into a completely dried out pot of soil. Moist ... not wet!

Edit 2. You'll want some kind of breeze to lightly blow the seedling about a little. It will make the stem stronger.

Blue could you suggest a light for indoor thinking might do one plant inside and one plant outside so any help with small one plant indoor setup?

Yes i can ... but i tend to buy the good stuff that will do a great job, comes with the best safety and will last an age.

Depending on your tent size i'd recommend GrowNorthern Telos 0006 or Telos 0008

If you're gonna blow some decent cash, i'd focus on the light, the extrator fan and carbon filter first. (get a Rhino carbon filter ... They will do what you hope they would)

Going to have a very small tent just for one plant. But those light are abit out of my price budget and cheaper alternatives that you know of? Reading a lot of mixed reviews and suggestions on forums.
Also smell won't be a problem so is it essential to get a carbon filter and extractor fan?

Sorry if these are stupid questions.
Again thank you for your time.
