Turning a shoddy shed into a groovy ganja growroom

Awesome!! Know what...I should really think about reusing my T5's when I start the new grow room design(hopefully soon!). I have 3four footers and a 3 foot(all single bulb). Right now they are my main lights in my shed, just for seeing at night, not for growing...lol

@912GreenSkell ... what's that dude? wasting light for seeing rather than growing? ... buy a torch ha ha ...

@Nabzter ... it's so fucking cosy down there, I'm thinking of moving in..!
String a hammock up, install a fridge for the beer and get a gym membership so I can use the showers ... presto, cheap livin'.

I'm going nuts at the moment guys (and @Maria Sanchez) .. I've got equipment deliveries coming thick and fast at all times of the day, but it seems that every time I pop down to the shed for half an hour, I come back to the flat to find several "Sorry you were out" cards ..! Aaaarghh. "Please call this number to reschedule". Fuck, I've spent the last 5 days oscillating between shed and flat, popping my head above the fence occasionally like a fucking meercat to see if any delivery men are standing next to my doorbell. Can't put a sign up, that would redirect every Eastern European van driver into my secret world, not good for business methinks. Have everything I need to crack-on now, bar picking up over $100 worth of Plagron Batmix from my local Argos store. Everyone else is buying Xmas presents, and I'm buying expensive soil. 'Hmmm, no prizes for guessing what he's up to, then' ...

Those Airpots are just brilliantly thought-out aren't they? I ordered 10 x 20 Litre jobby's ... and when they arrived, they looked like a large aeroplane propeller wrapped in black plastic. The delivery driver was bewildered.
I did wonder how they were going to ship 10 of these, because they don't 'stack' like regular pots.
See what I mean? ...

You wrap the black stuff around the blue thing and use a couple of plastic plug things to fix it together ...

Aaaaah ... "I wondered what those plug thingy's were for ...?" ... holdin' it all together is the answer.
If you look closely, you'll see the diagonal 'join'.

I'm knee-deep in electronics, plastic, polystyrene and packaging.
It feels like my Xmas has already arrived..!
However, I'll be popping some beans soon, certainly in the next week or two.
CANNOT fucking wait.

Things are moving rapidly now, so more photos on their way ...

great design!

Outdoor, indoor? ... where's shed-growing go?

For my second post ... not so much a guide as a 'this-is-how-far-I've-got' project-still-under-construction, and I'm splitting it into parts. I wanted to start growing indoors under lights, but I don't have a useable attic or cellar and I didn't fancy a tent in the corner of my living room, so the only option open to me was the garden shed. It's been mainly a carpentry affair so far .. so enjoy the ride, the renovations have been made with growing weed in mind.

Also, I've never done this before, in fact, I've never even grown under lights before, so this is a bold step for me .. and there will be blood! I'm working with theories, forums, books, basic physics and Google, along with a smattering of engineering and outdoor-growing experience. My plan is to grow some autos and photos in the greenhouse May-Oct and grow autos-only in the shed under lights Nov-April .. winter's best because in the summer the shed gets too hot to grow, and it's much easier to heat a room up than to cool one down.

You'll need: a garden shed, carpentry skills or a mate with some, a shitload of timber, OSB boarding and nails (don't forget the nails like I did!), a reliable tape-measure (important), another mate with some power-tools you can borrow if you don't own any, and a few days of good weather. Oh, and some bucks! Well, actually, more than some, because you've got electrics, equipment and insulation to add to the total bill further down the road, that's if you're serious.

Anyway, back to the build. Part one, the roof.
This was the starting point:

The roof was leaking, the walls were damp and the floor sloped. But it was a solid timber-frame construction and with a little love, she could be saved. The roof was the main issue, because that was what was causing all the other problems, so I set about fixing it with a completely new roof, with enough strength to support lights of all types and a bit more water-proof than the last one (hopefully).

As the shed was warped and parts were rotten, and with the UK weather being as reliable as a politician's promises, I decided to build my roof on the ground first, then just lift it on. This allowed me to build a solid well-constructed nice-and-true roof that weighed a fucking ton!:

The sheeting isn't fixed by the way, just cut to size so it can easily be added later. I nailed guide batons to the sheeting when it was all laid out on the floor to make it easier to line stuff up. They came off when it was all nailed in place.

Leaving the old roof on until the last minute proved useful too, because it then took me a few days to find some mates to help me get it on:

Roof now on, and it fits (that's why I mentioned a reliable tape measure earlier):

The gaps needed to be filled now, and the roof felted:

I undertook this project because it made me feel 14 again, building a 'den'! I've had so much fun with wood and power-tools this summer, even if the whole thing fails, I can put her up on AirBnB at $100 a night ... complete with LED lighting!

If growing outside in a shed interests you, then stick along, you can learn from my mistakes if nothing else!

More carpentry to follow ...

Bud the Builder:baked:
way to go, bring an old shed to canna production! Good carpentry mates!

Thanks @Maria Sanchez ... my first indoor setup, I've spent the best part of a year obsessively buried in books and watching how-to vids.
I'm a 'jump-in-with-both-feet' type of person, but I do look to see what I'm jumping into first..!

I guess it's gonna be a watch-this-space affair ...

Edit: Getting it all to work harmoniously will be the hard part!
you've done a lot of homework dude, I bet you roll on the glitches that pop up

@912GreenSkell
Not too far away now, ol' Uncle @derek420colorado 's got me all fired up..! he he ...
Electrics are finished, vegging chamber's built, insulation's sitting in the greenhouse waiting.
Amazon have a lot of weird deliveries to deliver; soil's on it's way, so are the Airpots, fans, ducting, T5 lights, thermostats and plastic things that use gravity.

Decided to go with Mars Hydro II's .. 2 x 400 watt to start. I have a lot of testing to do, and the rest has cost me an arm and a leg so keepin' it affordable at the moment.
Kind LEDs can come next year ... need to recoup some money first.

4-6 plants to start, not decided yet whether to go 'auto' or 'photo' ..?
Have shitloads of beans of both.

New camera, Canon XS420 - daughter's Xmas present .. just playing with it ... he he:
