Hi Guys, This is my second grow and Im trying to get more technical this time around. Ordered a loupe, find it impossible to use. So I took a pic of my plant.

By my judgement, I should be around 2.5 weeks to harvest but I could be wrong.

When I'm looking at the trichomes, What am I looking for? Please take a look at this pic.
Am I looking for them to get bigger? Or am I just looking for a color change? Or both? Neither?

I want to know the 100% real harvest time and stop guessing by time..

Thanks in advance

Looking at the pic man I'm sorry to say, I think you have way longer than two and a half weeks. More like four or five...

As for the trichomes your looking for either of these:

Clear is not ready
Mostly cloudy is a racey high
50/50 speaks for its self
Amber is the couch lock body stone

I usually harvest at 30% Amber as I find that best for sleep and pain relief.

The white hairs, called Pistils, dominate right now and that tells you there is more time to fatten up. I personally don't like loupes and use a usb cam (first choice), or a pocket scope (second choice). Snip a little piece of bud and put it under the cam or scope and you should see clear trichomes right now. Don't worry about edge trichomes or leaf trichomes. As you get close to harvest, you will decide what type high that you desire and harvest according to those trichomes.

Interesting. I thought you can just check the sugar leaves so thank you for correcting.

Do you concur with the user above that its closer to 4-5 weeks? I would find that strange as I planted this exact one last year (Fast buds West Coast OG) and it finished and created a great product in 10 weeks and an additional 4-5 weeks at this point would put it at the 12-13 week range..

The difficult part of comparing the past with now is each strain may have a differing pheno. In the past, I've grown two of the same strain and one will be tall, one will be squat. Same with comparing ones grow to another's....that is a lesson in futility because the environment differs greatly from one grower to the next.
4-5 weeks more may be a little on the long side, but again, it's difficult to say with any real accuracy. It's keeping an eye on those pistils turning brownish/orangish and then checking trichomes. Gotta be proactive. Harvest at all cloudy trichomes, or cloudy with a mix of amber trichomes.

Thank you very much. After reading your post I took another refresher into pistol color and curling. From one year to the next I kind of forget things...

Thanks again for the help.

I know how that goes. Hell, just the other day for some damn reason I forgot to ph one of my plants. And that ain't the first time. That should be burned into my brain I've done it so often and within a long stretch of time. Red Alert....another muscle memory failure.

lolll. Could be worse...

@AutoWonders Excuse my ignorance. I took a better photo as of this morning. These trichomes are white arent they?
