I was smokin some Bad Paki when the thaught came to me to upcan into a larger pot w/ bloom nutes that has been cookin as you say...maybe go from a 3gal pot to a 5 or even 7 gal pot...? The 1st pot being high in N for veg and the 2nd would be high in P/K for bloom...have you tried anything like this???

:smokebuds:
Testerx, talkin to you brotha...has this thought ever crossed your mind.?..I have read that introducing bloom nute (P to be specific) can make yer heard lazy or docile...

I don't understand the advantage of having two different mixes. My regular mix has more (way more) than enough N and P to get through two grows without amending. The microbes feed on "P" and all the other foods and minerals in the mix.

Remember, we're not starting with Pro-Mix and adding nutrition as we go... We are starting (post sex) with a complete, well cured and conditioned microbe compost. Any ferts we add along the way, would not have time to cook (whether it's N, P, C, K, M... probably doesn't matter), so the plant cannot get the full benefit of the additional ferts... In fact, adding nutes along the way could potentially be very damaging to your end result.

Plus, as you well know, we try to transplant autos as seldom as possible. :peace:

Thanks, brother X for all your help and patience with me, until the light finally came on concerning the whole concept of TLO Soils.

So, yesterday the last of my guanos finally arrived via UPS at noon. So it was time to begin mixing 200 + gallons, to let it cook in time to transplant my indoor starts in a little over a month. (after hardening them harden off, of course.)

I ended up using LEVER 3K's recipe, plus Azomite, Humic Acid, and extra Micos. I did set up my 3 cubic foot cement mixer the day before out on the back forty where I will be growing. I made sure there was power, and it was working before I began getting out and setting up all my ingredients to start production. It is now 1:30 p.m. I knew that I would be pushing the time envelop in getting done before 0 dark 30. I decided to put all of the amendments in the mixer first, let them mix, followed by ProMix Bx, Perlite, and finally the compost.(total of around 2 cubic feet x 15batches) I went to turn the mixer on NO POWER. We had lost All of our power.OK, so I walk to my shop and get a good shovel for mixing in my big concrete wheel barrel, but still had the mixer on so that I would know that we had power when It came back on. Fortunately it came back on after my wheel barrow batch was done.

Man, I forgot just how good it feels to get your hands into nice soil, and TLO soils sure looks and feels like the finest of soils. I was sort of an Organic Gardner for several years until we moved from the mountains back closer to the city. Got completely caught up in the rat race, so didn't really spend any time or effort gardening. That has all changed now that I really understand TLO soils , and how they work. Have started really amending my veg garden, and will be building a three station compost bin next week.

Ok, back to my TLO mixing marathon yesterday. It was supposed to rain last night, so I knew I needed to finish, put ingredients away, and cover my mix up. Ended not quite finishing up at 8:00 p.m., when it got dark, yea I could have got lights out, but at that point I could hardly walk, due to the damage to my lower back, that I incurred during all my years of working as a tradesman. Today I will finish with my last three batches.:D

What I did after each separate batch was mixed and dumped, was to add 1 gallon of water mixed with Micos and some Blackstrap Molasses, so that took some extra time as well. I will turn the mix every 7 days, to give oxygen for the beasties, and straight water as needed. It looks like I will have more than enough amendments for re-amending for many years to come, and will be adding additional goodies also.:D

Thanks again X,LEVER 3K, Dirt, and to all you other TLO growers that came before us, to show us the way
. :grat:

I think that is probably the thing that stood out to me the most, as well. Even after using nothing but what are generally considered "quality" mixes, the texture, aroma (does not stink), etc. doesn't compare to a good TLO, IMO. Congrats on your grasp of the basics. I believe you will find this to be the easiest medium to grow out of that you've seen before. Add good water, and that's really all you have to do... teas can be beneficial, and intend to start using them, but to this point I have only used water, molasses, and fresh mycos to supplement my TLO during a grow. :peace:

Yes, that is my plan, to start using teas from the get go. I used to make teas when I was growing vegetables. But, I was not aware at that time how important it was to aerate the teas. No wonder mine smelled so rude, and I thought it was just the manures and fish emulsion. It stunk so bad that I called it 'StickMans Gruesome Gruel'.:D
The beasties must have oxygen
