NEWS Thoughts on Canadian Medical marijuana License

It was a couple of years ago so not exactly sure. And there was a backlog then. Might be even faster now. But it was roughly 3 months the first time. annual renewals take about 6 weeks. Good luck man. Its worth doing since its basically free.

I know one guy who gets gouged by a doctors office and has to pay $500 a year to have that doctor over prescribe him and get the permit to grow so he can have 100 plants. That is basically a scam. Guy thinks 100 plants is great because he can basically have a legal grow op (that is until he goes to sell it) so he pays the $500 a year but he knows the doctor is basically unethical. don't fall in to that trap. Go thru a canna clinic that doesn't rip you off. My clinic says the paperwork is $25 to file each year and they waive that fee if you cant afford it.
I'm with body stream they charge around the same for paper work said it would take couple months

Found an extra hundred bucks so I got my mmj prescription filled and just downloaded health Canada acmpr will send in tomorrow. I'm going indoor grow so I can grow 30 plants. Not that I need so many but when you breed seed at times you will have more then you should, so I have a safety.

You guys seem pretty lucky with your plant counts I'm a medical patient in oregon an I have a 6 plant limit .I can grow the 4 reacreational to but the place where I live banned rec growing so I have to be sneaky to get away with a legal 10 I usually run 8 .It can cost around 400$ to get the card but there are discounts if disabled like me .The interesting thing is with the legalization of rec cannabis in my state the medical program is shrinking an losing numbers fast.wondering if it going to be the same elsewhere I'm a medical patient as long as there's a program after bein busted an having my life up rooted in the ol days for manufacturing the ptsd of that moment never left I keep what ever legal paperwork I need sucks there weigh limits plant counts an what not but until it's fully legal that how it goes .

You could get more plants that way, depending on your prescription. But you have to spend money getting your place to "code", provide details to police for security (?) and so on.

I'm not commercial and I've kept my tolerance low. A few plants does me fine and I have small space so it won't make any difference to me anymore.

I think I can meet my needs from 4 legal plants, but it sure would be nice to have the extened limits to not have to worry about having some clones sprouting at the same time or to keep a few mothers around. Even if seeds were "legal" they are still expensive.

To the thread op, I have my ACMPR. Am legal for 15 plants. It took about 3 months for health canada to get me approved and papers sent back to me. For my personal needs it is enough to keep me supplied.
It was fairly pain free on the scale of things.

I haven't received an inspection but I do know what you can expect. You won't get an inspection from the police. Unless there is a complaint about your property they aren't aloud to to know you grow. If the police are aware of your licence, they may come and inspect. I was told that clones are "starting material" I wouldn't be keeping a large tray of clones by any means. You should be treated with respect in the inspection as long as you are following the law. 5 plants per gram is a healthy amount. If you are licenced to grow 15, prob not a good idea to have 30 flowering out.

You can get an inspection from a fire marshal. They are bound by canadian privacy laws to not share your info. They aren't there to count your plants and call the cops. You would have a challenge in court if the evidence was acquired by a violation of your civil rights.
They want to see that you don't have cords near water, GFI plugs and ventilation. It's all common sense stuff. Things you do for fire preparedness in your home already. It's not even expensive.
They like to see that you are ventilating the space to the outside, buildup of moisture and mold seems to be a real misinformation point. So they are stuck on this idea that even 4 plants will rot a house. So be aware.

Over all I would say it's worth the effort. I feel even safer growing, knowing I am also protected by patient rights and privacy laws.

I too have my ACMPR for 25 plants (+ 4 recreational), they still use the old paperwork until things are updated to the new Cannabis Act.
In Canada there should be no cost. No cost to see the doctor and get your prescription, no cost to get your license (unless you go through someone who fills and files the paperwork for you. Don't do it, it's easy to do yourself. Message me if you need help, no one should have to part with $$ we get gouged enough as is).
25 plants is about the limit I was told, before the Gov gets antsy. More than enough for me but lets me experiment with strains, have more clones going etc. I started with 5 plants, went to 15 then the 25; I just submitted new paperwork to update my gram/day at each stage and it was fast. I've heard Health Canada hired a wave of employees awhile back to deal with the paperwork faster.
I did not have to send anything to the RCMP/police, didn't have to get anything to code. No one needs or has any business knowing, if they do they're probably trying to scam you. I may sound paranoid, I just get pissed off when people try to scam others, especially people with medical needs who are struggling to begin with /rant.
Totally worth it, just be skeptical if anyone needs anything other than the doctor giving you your prescription, which you attach to your ACMPR documents that get sent to Health Canada. Yes, on the form it says if the RCMP contact Health Canada they will give them "limited information". I can't see them doing that unless you're being sketchy, as previously mentioned.

Just renewed my ACMPR sent Dec 12 and got renewal Feb 15 I let it laps for 2 months cause I was too poor to afford the 100 bucks the doc gouged u for a two second signature on a prefilled forme. I changed my grow from out door to indoor. Have a nice new 15 ft x 15 ft green house, which according to a call to Health Canabius a green house if well built with a locking door and a floor will qualify as indoor grow. So 30 plants I must grow plus the 4 recreational my wife wants me to grow. Way more then I need. But I mess with growing seed and need the numbers to stay legal.
Was looking at the leagel storage limit and I'm only allowed to store 3 lb from 30 plants, that's 1.6 oz per plant. With autos that would be an easy thing. You see now we have to stretch the boundaries on the grow definition. I'm not sure how they arrived at the unrealistic numbers of outdoor grow , in my case with my prescription it would be 12 plants. Unless you live on the 49 parrelel to get any amount of weed you'd need to grow photo period and tis far north that would mean light dep, easy enough except you'd need to do it for 1 1/2 months and stay on reasonable time. Oh well I ain't complaining just glad it's leagel
