La Buena Hierba The Theory of AF Origins.

I remember back in the day on some old forum where a Russian guy posted pictures of some giant local wild cannabis they had, and it was ruderalis. Looked some some whispy 2 metre tall haze.

I believe the region was Altaia, which is part of Kazakhstan etc.

Also heard about a full auto back in the day from Asia named Bangkok Betty. Likewise I've heard of auto Iranian strains.

I've used Iranian landrace in my breeding, they're more of a fast or early flower than an auto. They originally didn't have ruderalis in them, until commercial breeders mixed them with autos.

I remember seeing the Ruderalis Skunk in the Sensi Seedbank catalogue back in the mid eighties. It was supposed to be the smoke of the Russian aristocracy. Maybe it’s what Rasputin was tokin on that made him so hard to kill . I would believe Neville before all others. He is the giant upon whose shoulders we all stand if you grow cannabis today. The strains he developed 30-40 years ago still stand up to and surpass anything on the market today.

Now available at The Real Seed Company

Region: Central Asia
Strain: Siberian

Genetics: Siberian landrace, possibly Kazakh origin
Sourcing: Collected at source in Chebarkul, Chelyabinsk, southern Russia
Purpose: 'Drug', possibly resin production
Latitude: 54° N
Harvest: August to September
Height: 1.5 to 3 metres
Aroma: Intense pine, sweet floral, citrus
Characteristics: Resinous, vigorous, hardy, autoflowering, small leaves, purple coloration, CBD
Grow Type: Outdoors, greenhouse, or indoors

This Siberian landrace is a resinous, day-neutral (autoflowering) drug strain direct from Chelyabinsk, close to Kazakhstan. This genepool hence neighbours some of the most ancient Asian centres of cannabis culture, namely the Central Asian steppe, once home to history's original dope fiends, the Scythians.

This Siberian strain is something of a mystery. It was collected in Chelyabinsk Oblast, neighbouring northern Kazakhstan. The theory among local people is that it may originate in Kazakhstan. Several characteristics suggest it is a hashish landrace: domesticate seed structure, intense resin, powerful aromas, and definite psychoactivity. Conceivably it orginates as a hybrid between an introduced Kazakh landrace and local Siberian ruderal populations.

Leaves are small, and seeds are quite small, silver, and mottled, with somewhat elongated horseshoe bases on some specimens, all of which indicates ruderal ('wild') genetics. Cold-treating is advisable for best results.

CBD chemotypes are likely. Very fast flowering and hardy, this strain is well-suited for northern latitudes.

Wish they shipped to the states

People have been cultivating cannabis from siberia to sweden for ages. Ruderalis most likely came from that cannabis that was cultivated in siberia. Some genetic mutation to "early genes" used in those areas that caused it to go even further and autoflower. This let it grow without human help, then it ran into the wild and developed to that small ruderalis we know today.

That cannabis that was cultivated in those areas was also something industrial hemp like finola is derived from afaik, just bred for lower potency. Not that the cannabis they used was potent, but people did smoke it and knew that seedless bud is the best

i have some pure Siberian Russian ruderails i wil try this year outdoor see how landrace autoflower go compare to noormal autoflowers and mine super autoflowers :smoking:

In '19 I had a danish heirloom pot strain pollinating a super auto from flash seeds and in '20 the F1 seeds from that was autoflowering.
I belive that at least some of the old danish pot strains that have been selected for early finish since the '70's have developed a tendency to flower regardless of light cycles. Not just being early/fast but some kind of semi autoflowering.
