Bailer..any chance that you could get the girls up to sex under light before you put them out...
I find if they get to sex Well...they will normally take everything that nature throws at them from there.
norweigan..have you tried that...?

Good tip Wiz...thnx!
Great...that will give us an idea how they perform.
I can't make my mind up if you would get better results with a 2 x 8 week girl harvests..
or an amazonian auto that will take up your full 90 day season.
This will give us an idea.
My heart says go for a girl that takes the full season..
But norwegian thinks small and fast..
and I have to bow to his Local knowledge.

I'd do both... a short one in case the season decides to mess with you
and the long one for the full montey... plus SSH from what I've heard can be cloned... a definite advantage... think of the testing that can be done amongst exact genetic copies?

Survival of the fittest..natural selection...works for me.
You have to find out the KILL point..then we can work from there.
I found with the girls I have outdoor now..night temps of around 10 degrees C seemed to be the trigger point for them kicking out of hibernation and going for a growth spurt.

As soon as money allows... I have a project I've wanted to do for a long time... using a fridge and a digital theromostat for precise temp control... so we can dial it exactly... and see what the "slow point" is and the "kill point"... precise science!

I Think transpiration..in the cold their life systems are switched down so low..
the changes happen..
but so slowly..it is hard to see it happening.

I'd agree... they increased greenhouse production drastically for tomatoes by dveloping a "transpiration index" based on temps, humidity, sunlight exposure etc... yields increased 50% in ideal conditions (they use a combo of mist/cooling, shading and light deprivation to achieve the proper conditions.

Evening,Wiz!

"Ha ha..just about Anything I have.

ALL of mine our outdoor grown..All of them have been grown more off season than on season..so they are acclimatised to Hard conditions."

My hero.

"Since your season is so short..I'm thinking you are right..we should stick to 8-10 weekers..
that way with slight cross over...you can get 2 crops in the time-frame."

Sure, with a little overlapping you get 2 harvests in Norway,in good summers..
no prob. in Denmark - and for sure in the best parts of south-
Sweden.
Finland i dont know much about.. But hey,
there are lots of outdoor genes there!

Yes always, it seems logical in a way…

Quote Bailer:
"That is where some selection needs to be done, as a few phenos DID continue to grow. Few being the main word there."

Those few ones are very valuable! :jump:

Local knowledge is in my case quite "very local" BIG
variations in this country..
Norwegians report fine results quite a few places…
Hell, lets make more than just one strain only -

One for 55 - 60 - 70 Lat. N. and so on!
Can be done.

"Do you still post on ICmag norwegian....
just think that esbe grows outdoor on your conditions..
he is known for his generosity..

IF you explained what you wanting to do..
he May be happy to share some.....
get us off to a good start...... "

I´m posting a few times, yup, useful info there..
you see, Esbes conditions are quite better
than mine, no kiddin man!
( Like 15C+ instead of 21C+ mid-summer? )

Problem is, i cannot recieve stuff - security.
But hey, everybody are free to send FROM Norway..

Wow. Surrealistic!

I'm kinda a "Techno Junkie" as well... love designing and building shit like that... my own hydro systems, irrigation systems, computer controlled stuff... etc etc...
I love marrying my favorite things together: Growing, Technology, Thermodynamics and Hydraulics!

:)

im gonna be trying to create a strain for cold climates im around 65N. ill be following this thread

Morning M8´s ! :smokebuds:
Post #43 continued from yesterday...Just fell asleep, too much...

"Very High winds Torrential rain and Cold are my off-season conditions...
the girls sit out in that no bother..unless they get totally water-logged.

What is your natural soil like..free-draining…?"

On the west-coast of Norway & north they really really have
winds! Not THAT bad in my aerea…
I think my biggest problem is too much moisture…

But the soil around here is very free-draining - sandy.
Sometimes the summer night temps could go under
15C+..

"In the summer the patio gets up to about 50 degrees C..can't walk across it in bare feet.
The girls are sitting on that in pots and it always makes me wonder how they don't Cook."

You have tried to cover the pots in something white, yez?

"Yup..same as me..as long as they stay in Good condition...they will start up when conditions are Right…"

Intelligent plants! :hump:

Hi people!
Some info i stole
from Esbe on seedshare, just a part of it:
Hope it´s Ok. Esbe?!

Royal Dane:

no one knows the exact genetics if RD, but its a local strain grown here for many years and considered among our best strains

its very early and harvested in September here
ranging from start September to late September, sometimes into start of october, depending on how sunny the season is, general weather and its maturing seeds etc, but some growers have even reported harvesting RD in the end of August some seasons.

its told to contain genes from among others Afghan, Chitral and Hindu Kush.
acclimatization and selection here for many years have resulted in a strain that is very early, potent and mold resistant.

its a medium sized plant and due to its qualities its perfect for guerrilla grows.

its got a distinct smell though, very spicy and somewhat sour, some ppl call its smell "cat piss" odour.

it yields above average and it delivers a strong mostly indica high

Thyphoon
mostly sativa
originates from a social camp society called "Thy Lejren" (Thy Camp)
very early and ready for harvest mid September
both yield and potency above average
some trimming work as sensimillia but excellent hash producer
