Oh Bailer,you are soo spoiled! 120days.. i got only 90 days growin…
with some luck!

Now that movie was cool! I traveled India alot 1973-1980…
but not that high up - curious about how high up DO they grow,
More than 4000 meters?!

Quoting John Mondello :
"me 2! incredible... would love to spend days in the feields smelling... touching, inspecting.... photographing... :) bliss!"
Hey John… you forgot SMOKING!

Quoting myself:
"Breeding-material suggestions…

I know Wiz has plenty of terrific genetics going on -
which genetics are you thinking about for the "Cold Auto" ?!"

Hey Wiz !
Would you mind sharing some of your visions
concerning Breeding-material & your own strains ,
in the Cold Project?

:ama::dance::ama: Nice Wiggle Yezz!

I did a little experiment that seems pertinent to this thread. At the end of December I harvested the Mi5s I had under my LED light. I had seeded a branch on one plant and when I was chopping it, found that a seed had fallen into the pot and sprouted. I dug it up, planted it in a 5" square pot and put it on the window sill in the garage. At that time it had one true set of leaves. It continued to grow until it had 4 small sets of leaves and then pretty much stopped growing. Over the next 10 weeks I only watered it twice, otherwise just let it be. Temperatures in the garage did get below freezing a few nights and probably averaged in the mid to high 30s most of the time. So for 10 weeks it sat there, didn't grow, didn't die, but also, it didn't flower. A couple days ago I noticed it was starting to green up and get new growth at the existing nodes. Yesterday I saw it was starting to flower and is a female.

So now I'm wondering if it would be possible to over winter autos. This fall I may cut a couple plants back. Harvest the buds but leave some leafs. Place them in a cold frame, mulch them good, and see what happens. If they survive, will they regenerate in the spring, and if so, will they flower again? Given that ruderalis developed in cold climates in response to short growing seasons, it might be possible. While there may be no benefit to over wintering I think it's an interesting experiment and shows the hardiness and versatility of these great little plants.

If this works... pretty much a breaktrough Muddy! :D
I´ll give it a shot with my basement-grow, ( about 11-16 C+ down there in summer )

Sooo i might regenerate my harvested grow until mid-summer, and then place them outside... Rock´n roll ! :hump:

If i am lucky i get 120 ;)

90 is pretty short, autos are pretty much your only option!

@ muddy
I never considered an over winter. Would be a nice plus for some of the guys in the lower south, where it doesn't freeze near as bad as it does up here.
My autos last summer did a similar thing to me. It was just soo cold they stayed in a state of "sleep" until it finally warmed half way through aug.

That is where some selection needs to be done, as a few phenos DID continue to grow. Few being the main word there.

Breeding-material suggestions…

Oh, just love that word: "Customised!" Thanks mate!

A list of all suitable genetics to cross & customise..
maby arranged in groups according to latitude,
might be an idea - what do you guys think?

.. . . . "The Cold Lab" :dance2: :dance2: :dance2:

I´ll start with a few:
Thyphoon, From Denmark, maby Royal Dane also…
Don´t think anyone have customised these yet?
( The last one is said to be a little less mold-ressistant. )
Thyphoon x Black Betty hmmm..

They say that these ones are hardy cold&mold ressistant
W/good yield and potency,soo..
Don´t have experience with these Finland strains either - i think Bom has
grown some of those..maby good stuff!
Of course i believe strongly in my own stuff also!

And, most important: send out an expedition to the Himalayas,
to that specific valley with exact the same climate as my growspots please...

Cheers! :ama::dance::ama:

Yes! Lets get the cold lab going! I live at 62` in Sweden, and the summer is quite short, maybe max 90 days of OK conditions. The positive thing is that midsummer, the sun is shining almost 24/7.
I have never finished any fully flowered buds personally, but Typhoon, Royal Dane, (dane/typhoon) and some other local danish variants have been harvested succsessfully up here. Even UK 09 was successfull last year. All the others stains that have been tried have either been taken by mold, or just never gone into real flowering because of frost. So I guess a in-crossing with typhoon or royal dane is quite smart to get the mold resistant genetics.

This year I will try S60, auto assassin and russian rocket fuel outside, as well as super cali haze which will be planted as soon as the snow disappears. The others will go outside sometime in may, after germinating and a week in milk cups inside. I'll probably set out some typhoon as well since I got some seeds left.

Welcome to the forum! Thank you very much :)

Yezz! Welcome Lukasz! :jump:  :jump:

Thinking along the same lines here...

"This year I will try S60, auto assassin and russian rocket fuel outside,"

Tried S60 outside last year... tight buds... the mold got them - hope you are more lucky! :hump:
