Grow Mediums The 8 step dwc recuperation and recovery remedy

Great thread. Ive been researching and am about to take the leap and get a waterfarm next week..

This is January 2018 and you got choices now my-man!

Don’t guess, choose wisely and be happy… be confident you made the right choices and that will eliminate, anxiety, stress and worry about your roots rotting. Never wonder again, “will I catch the root rot tonight?”

The beauty about Hydroponic DWC, RDWC farming is that the farmer has total control if the life support system. The only vital nutrient the farmer has no control over is the DO Saturation and DO Concentration – Mother Nature totally controls the DO when the farmer is depending on hypothermia, ambient air, air pumps, waterfalls and air bubblers to insure a steady continuous supply of elemental O2. It is a fact that that elemental oxygen O2 is the # 1 most vital element necessary for all aerobic plants, animals and microbes to be healthy and thrive.

Although root rot is a common problem for many farmers, you do have a couple choices affecting cannabis root rot in your DWC, RDWC:

1. You can prevent it if you want too.

2. You can wake up 1 morning and discover that your roots stink, they are brown, slimy, seriously sick, dying, and have been rotting overnight, this happens quickly (the classic root rot horrors, surprise, discovery and the crisis is on). Actually the root rot is usually the result of the farmers’ failure to insure a continuous supply and optimal concentration of ALL the vital nutrients (specifically failure to provide a continuous supply of DO of high concentration at least within the “safe DO range”… 100% DO Saturation continuously 24/7 for months. Try not to confuse elemental oxygen with ambient air. Elemental O2 and ambient air (a mixture of several gases) is very different when oxygenation is the point. You cannot see, smell, taste or feel the difference between ambient air, elemental O2 or Nitrogen gas. Most people consider ambient and elemental O2 to be the same gas, 8th graders taking General Science, doctors, welders and pro football players playing in Denver know the difference in these gases so well.

But, if you are a DWC hydroponic enthusiast, you have very little to no choice about fungal presence in your nutrient water. Pythium and other fungi are ubiquitous organisms and always present in nutrient reservoir water. But overwhelming fungal colonies do not, will not and cannot thrive and advance colonization unless they have plenty sick and decaying roots and dead microbes available to eat and environmental anaerobic conditions exist in the nutrient reservoir water.

Fungi are like turkey buzzards (but smaller), you see 1-2 single buzzards flying around, sitting on electric poles and a you see gang of 10-20 buzzards huddled around road kill, all frolicking and feasting. Buzzards and fungi have purpose, they clean up dead stuff, eat the sickly, dying, dead and decaying roots, microbes and that “road kill”… that’s how Mother Nature cleans up death and decay. This is as normal as the sun rising and setting every day around the world. You can count on it!

Keep your roots healthy, prevent root rot or don’t be surprised when you see and smell death and decay 1 morning. Then the normal rush for the cure is on mixing up molasses teas and microbial brews and soups, root amputations, harsh chemical treatments and always a large dose of disappointment, stress, worry and major set-backs, When/if all that fails to bring the roots back to a functional life, accepting crop failure is imminent. Throw out the mess and try again but do not keep making the same mistakes, keep the roots healthy next time.

It’s far easier to keep those cannabis roots healthy thus preventing the dreaded root rot and associated problems any day.

Hydroponic DWC growers that can and do manage their water quality consistently and effectively know how to keep their roots and beneficial microbes alive healthy and thriving never have any problems with roots getting sick, dying, roots rotting and fungal infestations… never, even though they know the fungi are always present, patiently waiting for the right conditions /opportunity to thrive and multiply their colonies in your DWC life support system.

I believe root rot prevention is the magic, all you need to do is keep your roots healthy 24/7 for a few months.

After adding it I haven't had one issue with root rot, and I've nearly completed a whole grow without a water change :)
How do you feed the plants and never change the water they need different foods all the time I still would change one time a week what temp u keep temp at
