Completed The 2021 Outdoor Auto/Photo Competition!

update Sky 9/16
Update #10 @Waira
Photoperiod Strains: High Society, Banana Piepaya, and Purple Afghan Kush. Its been a while since my last update -- I've been fighting weather and lately, borers. More on that later, but for now, a quick update on the 3 plants:

They are approximately 27 days into flower development. High Society will be my "contest" girl; she has the nicest development, and has been spared most of the damage from wind and borers. Here is High Society:

Here is Banana Piepaya:

And finally, Purple Afghan Kush:

The gals do have a beautiful view, but with it comes lots and lots of wind. We have been through some rough patches: hurricanes Elsa (July), Fred (August), Henri (August) and Ida (September). I carry the pots inside for each of these, but I can't predict the frequent gusts. If I let the pots dry even just a little, then all it takes is a 20-25 MPH gust to send them over. Once, I had them up on the stone wall, and wouldn't you know, winds from FRED hit me from behind and sent the plants over the wall and down 6 feet to the level below. I amazed at how well they've handled it. But next year I'm going to need lots more duct tape. Here's a peak at what I saw when I looked out my window yesterday:

If I do this again next year, I'll be creating some kind of "system" to secure the pots. Its a classic design contradiction, the pots need to be light enough for this old-fart to pick up and carry inside, and heavy enough to withstand occasional gale-force gusts.

I guess I’m doing something right! In the back is a Gush Mints clone, four weeks into flower. On the right a Homegrown Deelite auto , day 56. Lastly, but not leastly, is a Homegrown Blueberry and Mazar at day 41. The second photo is of a nice GMint cola.
Did I mention how much fun it is to grow marijuana?

Just whirlwind thoughts for @Only1Sky and other wind-blown container growers...

Punch holes for drainage in a five gallon bucket or other appropriately-sized containter. Weight the bottom or as high as you can go (am thinking that you'd want to keep at least half of the plant's pot inside) with clean gravel. Set the pot inside the weighted base when they're needed.

Not enough? Bolt or strap the bucket to a board that's at least half it's width wider for more stability.

Caveat: If the winds are high enough and the plants don't tip they may suffer more damage than from being blown over.

edit: Gravel can be moved in any quantity that's manageable, doesn't have to be all at once. Any clean, weighty, easily drained medium could be used instead of gravel.

2nd edit: Bolt milk crates to a wider board, maybe half again as wide, and set the plants inside the milk crates. Lighter than handling gravel. Could also "strap" or "bungie" across the top of the crates, or buckets.

What rot I've found has been purely topical. I'm sure the dead pistils contributes greatly to the problem.
I do think it's a combo of the fine La Buena Hierba genetics and through usage of Phyter that has let her thrive as well as she has. Good health from growing in the EarthBox has been vital with very limited bug attacks................watch me have an outbreak of something! LOL!

I'm tripping on one of the cuttings I took from her. I've been spraying her with STS and she totally mutated and doesn't even look like a cannabis plant......except for ONE normal leaf on the entire plant. Another cutting, which I think was from the little haze, has still maintained normal structure. They were on 18/6, but nothing is happening, so I flipped to 12/12 to see if that will do anything.
:smoking: yours will be the toughest test for sure, but I think you picked the best cultivar for this run in your area! LBH, whenever he shows up again (he's "bissy mon!") will be keen on your grow MO and results- :greenthumb:

I have zero clue on the WTF is up with your cutting and the reaction to STS :yoinks:--- talk with T20M Adam, he'll have insights very likely!
Fem'ing is no easy gig man, sometimes it goes fine, others it's a hot mess or a total whiff at-bat,... One of the best private breeders I know (he made fem's of this Garlicane and made the CWF from scratch) has been aced by certain cultivars, very desirable ones that have passed the grow conditions test and all quality ones too, and he's not alone... Donny Burger, Collins Ave, Gary Payton have been SOB's to make fem's from =.... some are just like this, analogous to those varieties that are difficult to clone...

@Waira your yard is looking pretty
:toke: thanks Mason! ... lots more at my thread, including some other semi-auto's... Fast versions, you gotta dig into those more man!
This one made my Magic Strains, GhostDawg Haze x BubbaTrouble, an F1, has my lusty eye on her! So shapely, and nuggin' up in a promising way- :spels:
Her behavior as an OD plant (tent started only) has been exactly like a long cycle auto.. Started mid-July, so 8 weeks old now in cool foggy weather often
(likely part of the reason my run is so damn late this year!), and how fast she finishes is a total unknown, nobody I know has run this cross... I figure 3-4 weeks...

Here’s shots I took up on a ladder today on the raspberry parfait.
she's setting bud nicely mate! Get in on the Phyter action too next season... If you can source it, Actinovate would be worth a try... that bio-agent is actually a "predator" on mold pathogens, eating them :amazon: .... Phyter (Clonostachys rosea) is an endogenous "squatter", occupying space and out-competing other vermins for space and resources... more like a living barrier....
I'll be keen to see how BigFoot turns out, you're the first grow of her I've seen, and so far she looks solid!
Did a little vape on a Test bud from the Asian Haze. Pretty potent and surprisingly smooth and with my poor taste telling, it does taste pretty good for a quick dry. Buzz did sorta sneak up after the initial hit. Should make really potent hash.
 Concensus is from many NLD pro-growers, most NLD types really need proper dry and cure time to bring out their best, more so that usual with WLD's...
I'm sampling the EBB x S99v4 every few days now, improving every time! But that early test is important, I do it with all buds, ASAP just to see....:smoker1:

Bud worms are the Last Tormentors of the season, always late showers and fuck the buds up 2 ways:cuss:... I get them too, and Bt is all you can use at that point, by them I have to stop the SNS209 systemic to clear it out...
Just for you brother :pass:
 ooohh man,... they are going to finish beautifully Hazey, best hide them from Papi Magoo coz you know what a dirty birdy he is! :crying:... the colas are clubbing up perfectly as planned....:greenthumb:
Not busting your balls mate, but do you have a decent camera? Some of the phone pics do zero justice to what's there, and if you want to spank the Polls later, the porn pics needs be very juicy indeed! Plus, we all want to see pervy close-up's of the sparkly bits, we have alarmingly high standards here !

The golden lemon haze looks to be switching to purple.
I've eyed this girl myself a few times, so i'll be keen on the results of this girl too! She needs to hurry up though....
Entry plant first:
:woohoo1: shes a beauty pop! Great to see some Olde School rep'ed in the Comp for a change...

@Waira yeah that one is looking :growing:
I ran a rocbudinc razzle pie turbo this year and it turned out good smokes excellent but the final weight will probably not impress. The month earlier harvest is where it’s at with these fast versions.

@Waira update for OD girls. Pics are from a few days ago n I just had another bad storm last night the girls looked ok this morning before work but it was dark n I didn't have time to get in the grow. They are beat up for sure. I need a few more weeks for the ethos girls to finish up but weather is turning nasty on me. Fingers crossed I can get them to the End End!
