The more I think about building the optimal environment the more i realize that I know less and less on the subject. I would like to learn more about what temperatures are best for Growing auto's and if that is in contrast to Photo's. And what part does humidity play in the process. I have my own thoughts on this subject but i want to put that away and hear what others are experiencing and observing in the field as my hands on experience with Canna and particularly indoor auto's is sadly lacking.

So if you have wisdom on the subject I am all ears. School me.

It's a good question. What I know from theories and experience:
1. Start with high humidity and slightly higher temps (70% humidity is a sweet spot for first few weeks. I would lower it down about 1% for the next 25 days to 45% mark. Two weeks more at 45% then down to 40% till harvest. With temps I don't see much difference; just keep it in a comfortable level. I like to start a bit warmer, but with no drastic change over the course of the grow. if you're not below 20c and over 28c you're good. 25c is my "sweet spot" when no Co2 is added.
2. Also, plants seem to like cooler periods when lights are off. Tho, I have nothing scientific to back it up. Seems more natural, that's it.

I personally don't bother myself much with that anymore. Humidity is 35-65% and temps are 22-28c (30+ with Co2 at 1400+PPM) ? It's good. But that's just lazy talk :D

My auto's grow anywhere from 75 - 85 degrees. 80 degrees is my target temp and the most consistent. My humidity is on the low side and I gave up worrying about that long ago. I do the best that I can with the environment presented and I am happy with my results.

For the wee little ones just starting out, higher humidity is favored. As they start flowering and maturing, less humidity is favored. My setup has led lights that stay on continuously. Others prefer 18/6 or 20/4 etc. It will take some experience to find what really works for you. Our grows are very different from one another and that is where experience lends a helping hand so to speak. My first grow was quite the fucked up affair, but I learned a lot from that first grow. I had to stumble a bit before I started to get a grip on things.

You give little info on the type set up you will run, so there is only so much we can do. Plus you need to perform research.

This is where my research begins. That and a plethora of reading. But I like hearing what people that are hands on are experiencing in the field. Science is wonderful but its application is where the rubber meets the road.

At the moment, I am running a mish mash of led and CFL's until I get the funds to switch over to cob. I have both supplemental heat and humidity. It is dry here in the winter so dehumidfication is of no use to me. It all fits nicely in a 2X4X5 tent. Just enough space to produce for myself in the space of fall and winter. Growing in the summer is not on my agenda.

With my current grow I am running up on day 21. I have been holding my humidity at around %50 and temps first week were 80f and then down to 77f. More infor on that can be found in my grow here:

And as always, thanks for the input. None of us is as smart as all of us.
