Lighting T5/CFL only thread (the manual)

Great subject, wish I had found this awhile back. I concider myself a Noob at all this, but I am on my second grow. This time I am doing Nirvana's Blue Mystic Auto's, my previous grow was pretty much photo's (Bag Seed) to learn with. I run CFL's only, my Blues are under 12, 26watt mix of half and half 2700K and 5000K. Here they are at 5.5 wks old. The only other thing I have done is put Mylar on the walls of the closet the are in.

Greetings, How many Seedlings up to 5" (transplant) would this lighting system support? I'm shooting for 6-12 plants that will then go into 3 gal. pots and then transition outdoors for balance of grow. Oh ya, All Autos mixed bag. Do I need to re-think power. I'm considering using

a Hydrofarm FL24 2' 4 T5 tube unit I found on Amazon for $95.00 del. ? All Advice welcome. Thanks

A 2foot 4 tube light will only cover two maybe three plants in 3 gal pots.You will need more light if your going for six to twelve plants.

Hello everyone new to this and im going to be growing 7 diffrent auto's i been looking into t5's but don't want to spend alot cuase i just bought a 240w led and im getting a second 1
now my grow tent is 4x2x7 and with the height at 7ft i thought i could break that down into two levels giving each level 3 1/2 ft and the lower part would be the t5 and was wondering can i
use a 2x4 t5 in this space with the led's on top. there will be a table inbetween them or is this to much for this grow tent or should i use a 2x2 t5 i know im asking alot but if i dont i will never know and any advise to where to pick one up ? Thanks

I'd use a 2 x 2... and split uneven... with leds on bottom for bigger plants flowering... and starts under the t5's for first 3-4 weeks to sex before transplant to bigger pots under led for finals...
use 30" for top (inculding t5's) should give you 24 inches or so of actual space... then you can drop down on the plants low or back off as needed.... fluros can almost touch plants becuase they are so cool...

make the bottom the taller space as bigger pots plants are heavier... especially right after watering...

Ive just set one up, im doing 5 auto haze and 2 lemons. im using a single 200watt CFL grow light over them as im using square pots with a capacity of 4L of room per pot. Hopefully I should get a ace harvest to smoke away as ive invested in some good nutes, ph equipment and a EC monitor to get my watering solutions spot on. My box is relitively small, id say its about 3ft in length, 2.5ft in width and 5ft in height. Each plant has about 22inches of growing space. Is that enough?

Il take some pics and keep you guys posted as i really think CFL's can produce a good harvest.

This is just my opinion, but I think you will be needing to add some lights. That and 7 plants, especially haze varieties, will need more room. Even auto haze varieties get pretty big.

But that said, Best Luck on your grow.

Hey,

Well they have 22" of growing space which does not include the height of the pots which is 48.4 cm. I can increase the height of the box if needed. This will just involve a bit of DIY as its a computer desk as im stealth growing mate. The light produces 600w of light in equivilant as its a CFL, i do have a spare one if needed but i will have to purchase some kind of extracting fan. Ive set up the fixture to apply this as i thought it may be needed. Il keep you guys posted as ive never tried this beans before. Im planning on giving them nutes during mid 2nd week. Is that ok? Ive got some veg and bloom nutes designed for soil
