Lighting T5/CFL only thread (the manual)

edited post... duh, wrong thread. Pay no attention to me Im ripped...

So I just got a small little big reply from 1000bulbs; I can't use their bulbs. In the Netherlands we use 220-240 voltage bulbs, 1000bulbs only have 120v bulbs. If anyone knows a good spot to get CFL bulbs in Europe, please let me know. The max Watt they sell in my hardware stores is 23W, and they cost 8 Euro (about 10 Dollars) each.. Now imagine buying at least six 2700K and six 6500K bulbs for that price, and still only having the minimum Watts. So I'm really starting to think I should just get an HPS light... Which would really suck because I was really hoping to grow with CFLs.
Remember, the wattage of the bulb isn't what you should be looking at, you're looking at the amount of light it creates, which is measured in lumens, usually displayed as lumens/m. It'll be on the box. There's plenty of places you can get bulbs in Europe, or at least, here in the UK you can (or you can order from here, we use 230v and it's a lot closer). But check your local hardware store, they're cheap enough that you'd be better going there rather since when you add on delivery, it's not really worth it.

First off, hats off to ya ripster for the great thread, I'm a cfl users. I have a smal 2 foot grow box I use 4 26 W cfl. What can I do to get denser buds, if anyone has any advice it would be appreciated, if there is anything I can do. One love

Because auto's go straight from seedling to flower, is there any need for the 6500k lights or can you just use 2700k lighting?

CFL CLUB! lol.

hello everyone.

----

Because auto's go straight from seedling to flower, is there any need for the 6500k lights or can you just use 2700k lighting?

good question jimjim.

im currently starting my own cfl micro grow and ive done a whole lot of research.

some people have used all 6500k with great results
some people have also used all 2700k with great results.

imo.. i would still switch out the bulbs (to get the full spectrum)

option 1:
6500 k -- for veg (2-3 weeks)
2700 k -- flower (when you see the autoflower shows its sex)

option 2:
mix and match the spectrum from veg to flower
ie: 2 6500k / 2 2700k.

just my opinion.

Question

Does Any one know how close you can put a 200 watt ho cfl to the plants? everything I have read says 4 to 5 inches but so far any closer then 8 inchs and I start to have curling at the edges. I beleive I have a slight ph problem could that mimic heat stress and curl the edges or make the plant sensitive to heat? This is my first grow still trying to figure everything out.

I believe you just answerd your own question.. evey grower is different.. there for if your plants dont like the light any closer, that leave them at what works for you and them....

http://www.htgsupply.com/Product-HTG-Supply-2-Foot-4-Lamp-PL-55-Tek-Lamp.asp

24 inch x 24 inch with 20k lumens

the grow box will be slightly larger than 2'd x 2'w x 5' tall
