Indoor Suggestions wanted on hydro setup

Thanks for the reply. I'm very aware that the plants will double or triple in size. What I'm trying to find out is how big a plant grown in a 4" net pot can get. Except for the system I linked to most of the ones I'm seeing are set up to accept 4" pots. Can a 4' plant be grown in a 4" net pot? If so, what would be a typical yield? How big were yours that gave you the 6.6 oz?

it depends on risk factors and how long you want to veg but they do veg quicker if you check the dwc guide it says

For your first run of the system I recommend you start with less plants (5 to 6 per 1000 watts). Recently I've been able to yield 5.5 to 6.6 ounces per bucket when running less plants and using better pruning. how big they get depends on you flower they will at normally double to triple in size

  • 1000 watts: 6 to 7 buckets
  • 600 watts: 4 to 5 buckets
  • 400 watts: 3 to 4 buckets
  • 250 watts: 2 to 3 buckets

the roots are in the res if your on about dwc so its not relative to the size of plant plus 4ft plants its near imposible to get that light penertration anyway at that height. yield is also relative to strain training and most important light . 1-1.5 grams per watt is typical so a 600w light will give 600-900 grams if your good

I appreciate your help but I don't think you're understanding what I'm asking. I'm not new to growing and I certainly know that the roots will be in the res and that taller plants won't get as much light to the lower buds. I understand that final yields are dependent on the strain, training, nutrients, amount of light, etc. I'm simply trying to find out some general information on plant size and yields, nothing specific, so I can get a general idea of how many plants I can fit in this space and what to expect from them.

That's probably what I'm going to end up doing. When I started calculating what the electricity was going to cost to run autos 20/4 it became apparent right away that there is no way I can reasonably cover it. In that case I'd like to keep 3 mothers so will have to figure on an area for them and the clones. If I could run my outdoor box year round I would just use it but it gets too hot in the summer. So I'll still grow some autos in there and my other small area, and use the new room for photos.

oh yea Muddy, just a personal opinion here but i would use clones...takes alot a guess work outa what sex and what pheno...also less electric all the way around...once your on a roll you could get a harvest every three weeks from there on out. im taking 18 clones from 2 mothers every 3 weeks now. just my:2cents:brotha...

Ok ill try and explain this pot size and plant size is nothing to do with it you can grow any size of plant long as the plant can take as much nutrient as it wants.you need to fill the the light foot print area if you did it with 1 plant you will get 600-900grams per plant if you did it with 6 plants you will get 6x100-150grams per plant based on a 600w light at 1-1.5g per watt

plant amounts you can have 1 tree or 40 sog in a ebb&flow table the only difference is veg time

I'm soil less in 3 gallon pots and probably average around 2.5 oz. on things like Mi5, Onyx, AA, etc. Those are impressive yields as those gallon zip bags will usually hold more than an oz. each. I'm probably going to end up running photos simply for the reduced cost in electric, but that does help as it gives me a pretty good comparison to what I'm now getting. Thanks.

For sure. I'll start out with a small setup and expand on it as I learn. In the mean time I can still grow some in pots and slowly switch over till it's fully hydro.

I'd have to agree. My first Hydro grow I ran stress clones "Mexican Bag weed" it was a Sativa lean so I'm guessing Mexican Sativa or Mexico City Gold (Mexican Sativa X Alcapolco Gold open wind cross). This was in a simple DWC set up with 5 gal buckets, 4" Net pots(That's why I'm posting) and all were stand alone. Each girl ran 5-6 oz's and finished in 11 weeks in bloom, 14 weeks total. This was back before I even knew what the Lucas method was and so I was using Fox Farms Veg nutes, then switched to Advance Nutrients, finished with Bud candy. I recall (this was years ago lol) it being an electric high, kept me medicated for 2 hours before I needed to toke again. Strait noobing it and still got results. I had 6 girls under 600watts so 30 zips aint bad for a 18 year old kid with NO previous Hydro experience lol. Granted I had some-1 teach me how to grow hydro. By the third full run I was averaging 3/4lb each, under more watts mind you ><.
But Better skill through practice and just trying the systems will help more than anything we can tell ya man. I would still get my ass handed to me by my boy who grows Ebb tables. He has been at it for what... 5 years? Same NL strain for 5 years. His mother plant I remember he had back in HS in his closet. She is now 5 years old in a 30 Gal Pot(soil), and gets 1000w for 18 hours all to herself. Yea she is big as shyt too. Literally has a "trunk" about the size of your wrist. The clones he uses for the system make every clone I have ever seen look like a Pink tutu. with frill.....
But anyways,I always say if you can take care of a saltwater Aquarium you can handle Hydro. Man... Now I kinda wanna go back to hydro.... Maybe lol Idk I like organic smoke to much now. Taste is wtf good. Even my NL boy said he had to give my organic smoke the ok, it comes out better than his 5 year old NL in hydro. Just my :2cents:

Have been doing a lot of research on hydro systems and am leaning toward an aero system, specifically the AeroJet. Most of the systems seem to be set up for 3.75 or 4" net pots, yet larger ones, 6 to 10" pots are sold individually. Since most of the systems don't use these larger sizes, I assume they are mainly used in DIY setups? Down the road I may be interested in building my own setup but to start I'd rather buy one. Anyone have a line on an aero system that uses a larger pot size?
