Indoor Suggestions wanted on hydro setup

LOL, got to find some way to top those monster Mi5s that Jackal's growing. Thanks for the link, took a quick look and bookmarked it for future reference. I'm very capable when it comes to DIY projects so that might be right up my line.

Still undecided on photos or autos. I'd like the savings on electricity of running photos on 12/12 over autos on 20/4. But I would then need to use my grow box as a veg/clone area which would only leave my small area to grow autos in and I can only fit 4 in there. So I'm leaning toward autos. If I go with autos I'll need to learn how to feminize my own seeds.

You just weren't satisfied with the monster plants you had already, eh? :p I'm more of a fan of RDWC over Ebb & Flow. If I had the space, I'd be all over a nice RDWC set up. You're willing to build your own and you seem to be a very intelligent dude otherwise I wouldn't recommend this - but check out OgreSeeker's RDWC controller bucket tutorial here; https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=92963 - it's quite technical, but after you have that, just set up the plumbing of your other buckets and you'll be good to go. I've seen MONSTROUS results on forums and even from a buddy of mine, but never did it myself - it's a little overwhelming to do it as is but to scale it down to fit my current space I'm just terrified, haha. I'm assuming this is for photos instead of AFs?

the main problem your going to have with rdwc and a table ebb and flow is this. If your growing autos there not clones so varience in feed and finishing time will be a pain and some will want to be flushed when others want more feed throwing your ec and ph all over the shop. I would recomend building a single dwc (deep water culture bucket) and stick your toe in the water first

Very good point. That's why I'm building all individual DWC buckets myself.

Great thread! Do you fellas notice a difference in taste when it comes to hydro vs soil?
Is there a difference between bubbleponics and Deep Water Culture (DWC)

To my knowledge the only difference in the 2 is bubbleponics has a water pump to circulate water thru the net cups.

oh yea Muddy, just a personal opinion here but i would use clones...takes alot a guess work outa what sex and what pheno...also less electric all the way around...once your on a roll you could get a harvest every three weeks from there on out. im taking 18 clones from 2 mothers every 3 weeks now. just my:2cents:brotha...

DWC also can use air stones to aerate the water. There are other forms of DWC like undercurrent, etc, so some folks just call it bubbleponics when they use a bucket with airstones.

I have done both DWC and Ebb and Flow, DWC for me seemed to be the simplest.

All I did was get a 40Ltr container with lid, cut 2 holes for the netpots and added a 6in airstone, worked very well.

The Ebb and Flow setup I had was self made and purpose built for 2 plants only, with a little bit of fiddling around I had it running nice for 4 grows. But to me it seemed like it required more attention than the DWC so I gave the setup to my brother.
Now I am using soil and I truely suck at it :P

That's the next decision that I need to make, do I run autos or photos. If I like how the Blackstar 240s do I plan to use those, so some savings on electricity there. If I go with photos I won't be able to grow autos any more. I would need to use my small indoor spot for mothers and my outdoor box for veg so wouldn't have any place for autos. I'm working on getting an equipment list together so I can estimate my usage and see if I can cover running everything 20 hours a day.
