Thanks for the rep, @hecno -- hope all is well in your garden!

Spring-Summer Grow -- Maria's Haze Heaven Hacienda!

Day 170: 135V + 35F

Last visit just two days ago.
But wanted to go today because of the wind situation -- had they fallen down again?!
And also to water as I'll be away for quite a few days.

Weather today clouding over, maybe some light rain --- hopefully!
And forecast says maybe some more over the next four days or so.

Got to the site and they were all good.
The water in the pots and the brick plus wooden panels held them down.

Hard to guess the height of them, now, as several are leaning a bit after the fall.
The SSSTN may be catching up to the taller Grail x ThaiFrican!

Moving along quickly now, good to see.
Maybe she is more of the SSSDH leaning pheno?

She's the delicate looking one.
Maybe a bit more of the 'wild' pheno OJD mentions.
And it does seem that she is a bit slower than the 'Sticky' pheno.

Both these SSSTN ladies have some stretch still left in them.

Sorry, that's a terribly unfocused photo, haha!
Lots of cluster buds forming, quite leafy at this point.

Queen of the Garden, this girl!
Since the fall, she was leaning heavily to one side.
I propped that heavy brick that's weighing down the pot against her base to keep her upright.
Here's one of her smaller side colas.
PXL_20240907_021409173.jpg

The stretch seems effectively finished now.

One Lemon 'n' Lime Jones
PXL_20240907_021342687.jpg

I bent her sideways for this pic.
Chunky up in a big way.
Pulling out every little brown or even yellow leaf out of her, as I don't want any nasties in there...
Almost done, maybe just a couple of weeks to go -- end of September should be perfect!

Seven SSSTN x ThaiFrican seedlings

Good news, and bad news.
Seven girls out of seven regular seeds! Wow!
But, means I can't make any seed this round. Oh no!

This girl has always been a bit more sensitive.
She's still doing quite well, but just seldom seems to look in full health and vigor.
Still, here's a look at a side cola.

[Edit: I accidentally put in the pic above of the taller Grail x ThaiFrican by mistake. As the original pic is already deleted from my computer, you'll just have to use your imagination.]

< Deleted pic >

Coming along nicely.
Just a little bit slower than the taller Grail x ThaiFrican.

Bats!

Bats, lots of bats.
But due to the time I visited, it was quite dark in there, so no pics, sorry!

A bit of danger on site today.
Just about 5 minutes after I got to the garden, first removing dead and dying leaves,
I heard some voices not far, two people I think.
I thought they might just be workers out by the road, no problem.
But then they really seemed to get close.
I was very sure they were in the alley in front of the apartments.
Just workers, or ... something more dangerous?
I went into ninja mode, and slowly went down the stairs...
On the stairs of the 2nd-3rd floor, I could see a pair of jeans outside this very apartment!
Get ready to move, fast, I thought!!!
But then they turned and left.
After another 5 minutes, it seemed all was safe.
Were they doing a little inspection?
Planning on coming in and cutting the grass, like in spring?
When I left, I walked past the gate, and it had been opened and closed again (lock and chain was sitting differently -- I pay attention!)

Okay, don't panic, just play it safe.
One thing, though, I know that it is possible to flip open the lock and get to the site from the gate now.
Luckily last visit I pulled the plants back from the edge a bit.
You can barely see them from down below now.

Happy growing, my friends.
Stay safe!

Peace and Love,
~MJS

Great update. Nice to see the plants doing well. One of them is going to finish in a couple weeks? What about the others? Looks like a ways to go to still. Will the weather hold for them long or are you in a place that doesn't really get "winter" coldness, just dark and damp?

That last bit with the workers? I'd buy a trail cam just to make sure no one is investigating too much. Good luck with staying hidden!

Hey there!

The Lemon 'n' Lime Jones is well ahead of the others.
She just flowered through the whole of summer, the longest day 13.5/10.5 wasn't enough to flip her into veg.
The others needed about 13/11 to 12.5/11.5 to induce flowering -- higher sativa content in general.

They'll finish fine.
Last round I started in October and was harvesting in Jan-Feb.
It gets colder and wetter, but nowhere near a frost or anything like that.
At 10.5/13.5 in late Dec, it's not really that dark, either.

I thought about the trail cam, but no need I think.
Workers have been there before, and they just cut the grass and weeds in the alley.
The young plants were upstairs, happily untouched.
And I had some graffiti artists paint on the walls right next to the plants.
No issues.

Even if I set up a trail cam, if the site was under surveillance, I'd still have to get in there to use the camera.
And if I got a wifi trail cam, then it could be detected by others, too.
Spent a bit of time thinking about this already.
But thanks for the thoughts!

Day 176: 135V + 41F

Four days since last water.
They will be a bit thirsty.
Hopefully they're still standing okay, and lots of wind again lately.

On site, it appears the workers have been in.
They've cleared out most of the crazy spring to summer jungle.
It's easier to get on site, don't have to push through the jungle weeds.

Garden is fine, they wouldn't have even seen it.

Family pic

Don't mind the dropping leaves, they're just thirsty.
Shouldn't be too dry to cause any real damage, though.
Horrible angle for a pic, as the sun is in front to the side.
But you get the idea, right?

These two ladies are in no rush, it seems.
Probably the healthiest of all the plants in the garden.

At least, I think this is the Sticky pheno.
They're really looking a bit different this round, with a full veg period, and gradually going into fall.

This is just a little back branch on the shaded side.
Still stretching out, but filling in all the way back.
She has about 8-10 big lower branches that will yield well.
Another 8-10 smaller upper branches that will have nice colas, too.
And the main cola is 2'-3' feet long, with a little more to it as well.

Rather a sad looking plant, all thirsty and terrible lighting.
She's getting there, won't be long now.

Seven SSSTN x ThaiFrican seedlings

Last time I said seven girls out of seven.
Maybe one of them still hasn't shown sex after all.
If there's a boy, this is the time for him to show himself.
Lots of pretty girls waiting, I must say, hahahaahaa!

Going to be so much bigger and better than her first round in life!

Bats!

Lots of bats in the bat cave today.
No pics, as I was on the move.

Spring-Summer Grow -- Maria's Haze Heaven Hacienda!

Day 186: 135V + 51F

Around 300 mm = 12" of rain last few days.
Probably some more to come.
Quite windy at times, too.
Was concerned that the weight of the water and wind would create problems.

Took a big ball of thick hemp twine / light rope with me.
Planned to at least set up a line in front of them to stop them falling south.

Family pic

When I arrived on site, this is what I saw:
PXL_20240923_025101803.jpg

Left: SSSTN girls
-- all standing tall and strong, no problem at all
Mid: Grail x ThaiFrican girls and L'n'L Jones girl
-- the main stem of big GrailxThaiFrican down 90 degrees, leaning on the medium pheno
Right: Grail girl
-- several of her bigger colas down 90 degrees

Lucky I got here in time.
Some of those branches are also broken...

I'll show a pic at the end of the solution situation.
The pics below are a combination of when they were down and after they were supported.

Pretty sure this girl above is 'sticky'.
These colas are just amazing, they are just nearing the end of the stretch though.

You can see that Fluffy is a little more delicate.
There are several better colas of her I should have shown you.
The more heavily branching, fine delicate stems, that led to her rounded buds.

Grail (fast pheno) x ThaiFrican (medium pheno)

Looks like I didn't get any shots of the medium girl.
She's doing well.
Her taller sister was leaning on her a little, but I remedied that.
Good color, nice green, flowering still developing nicely.
Some aromas starting with her.

Grail (fast pheno) x ThaiFrican (taller pheno)
PXL_20240923_025438244.jpg

Rare chance to get close to this main cola, 2.3 m tall!
The rest of the now bent over plant is a mass of flower:
PXL_20240923_025441776.jpg

Lush!
Some aromas starting to show for this girl now, too.

Two branches that broke off this tall girl.
One was a very nice big lower branch.
The other a smaller lower branch.
Pity, but sh!t happens.
There's a little rip on the main stem from the big branch -- hope it heals up!
PXL_20240923_030403872.jpg

That could have been a potential oz or two.
Poor little girl.
Hope she recovers soon!

One Lemon 'n' Lime Jones

I have a photo.
But I don't want to show you.
It's not pretty...

That wet period combined with her already poor state...

Let's just say I cut out the nasty stuff and put the rest to dry.
These denser more 'hybrid' types not so ideal for here.
Problem started when the bugs began nesting in her thick flowers.

Seven SSSTN x ThaiFrican seedlings

All this there.
All female! Wow, seven out of seven! Odds are 0.7% !
Various phenos, a lot of variation.
Not surprising given both parents are F1 crosses already...
Two F1 cross combined is an absolute mix of possibilities!
I like the idea of these possibilities, though, don't get me wrong.

Re-vegged Grail project (NvHz x Mullumbimby Madness F2) (NLD pheno)
PXL_20240923_025428172.jpg

Laying down, curling up to the sun, but otherwise looking great!
Stretch almost done here I think.
She is back up straight now, and looking very good on the whole.

Supporting ropes

I moved the plants back from the edge a few days ago.
Gets them out of the wind, if the wind comes from certain angles.
Prevents them falling right off the balcony if they fall south.
But it blocks a fair bit of morning and evening sunlight.

The stakes in the pots just don't work well.
The pots are too small / shallow, so the stakes can't go deep.
The plants then just pull the stakes right over.

So tied that light rope across the pillars near the front (south) of the balcony.
Move the plants up close to them, so the rope pushes them upright.
I also put a separate rope on the taller Grail x ThaiFrican, tied to the pillar on the right.
It gives her extra support, and keeps her from leaning on her shorter sister.

The taller Grail x ThaiFrican and Grail NLD pheno need this support most of all.
The medium Grail x ThaiFrican would benefit, but she's doing okay, not so tall.
The two SSSTN girls just don't seem to need it, they are very tall upright plants.
But that may change once their flowers put on weight and size, so good precaution anyway.
PXL_20240923_030643702.jpg

Doesn't that look soooooo much better?!
Cut / broken branches on the ground, next to the big twine / rope ball.

Bats!

The bat cave is very wet, muddy.
The bat guano is washing into the mud, too.
It feels like 10000% humidity in there, believe me!
Bats seem okay about things, though.

Happy growing, my friends.
Stay safe!

Peace and Love,
~MJS

Solid! They are so tall already, good thinking with the ropes. Pro move.

If I didn't have another out of country excursion coming up I'd have sprouted mine already. I can't wait. Have you tried any of these strains before?

Thanks. Let's just see what happens. Still a fair way to go here!

Both the Super Silver Sour Thai Neville girls, and the Grail Project (NLD pheno), are re-vegged -- I grew them out last season, October to February/March, and have them in my jars still. So, yes, I've tried not only the strains, but these very plants.

The Grail x ThaiFrican was my own cross. The Grail mother, a different pheno, chunkier and a bit faster, larger calyxes, was also last season, and I still have a little bit of her left. I started with four ThaiFricans, but the other three got munched (probably giant snails!), so I don't know how they smoke. I can see the Grail mother in both these girls already.

The Lemon 'n' Lime Jones girl, her sister (they were started together) was already matured and chopped back in May or so, a nice bud stick. I've tried her only once, and should go back for another test, now she's cured for a few months.

I have read that word and totally missed the meaning. I realize now what you meant. Jeez, dumb new guy moment. Haha!

So, what's your take on them? Nice high? Head/body? I guess they were good enough to keep them going for another round or two!
