Spring-Summer Grow -- Maria among the Hazes!
Day 156: 135V + 21F
Made a visit today, to water and see if I can tie them up with something.
Temps have been hot again, high/low of about 34C-28C.
Was a tiny amount of rain yesterday, but nothing really.
I just took in some gardening string for the tie back.
Thought I'd try to find something on site, as usual.
As luck would have it, on the way there I first found a nice broom handle -- perfect!
Then I found two nice pieces of construction re-bar (is that the term?).
And then another piece of something like looked like window framing or bathroom runner.
The idea was to just stake those in, and do a very simple string tie around the plants.
When I got to the site, I found that they were all back up nice and tall!
Except one branch of the SSSTN (pic below).
So maybe they were just chilling out after the wind and rain last time.
Whatever the case, a tie back is a good idea -- these girls are tall, and sticky growing!
No family pics today, I did more flower shots, so you can see how their development is going.
Revegged Super Silver Sour Thai Neville (Sticky pheno)
Now that these two girls are flowering, I can affirm which is Sticky and which is Fluffy.
My original guess was correct, but now I'm like 90% certain.
Sticky is more straight and solid, Fluffy is more delicate and branching out.
Let's have a look at Sticky.
She's slightly taller than Fluffy, and now looks like she may stretch longer, too.
Revegged Super Silver Sour Thai Neville (Fluffy pheno)
I think the two colas in behind are both Sticky, so you can see the height difference.
I really wonder what her flowers will be like this time.
As the first time, she was stunted and shaded out by Sticky, and by the time she was hitting flower, it was like already past the winter solstice.
So she flowering with increasing light hours.
May have contributed to her having a lot of male flowers at the end of the flowering phase.
While most of these big tops got tied inside the string, I left a few outside, let them flop a little and get the light from other angles.
Here's one branch, not sure which pheno, but looks more like Sticky, that is lying almost flat straight, curling up to the sun:
Taller Grail x ThaiFrican
Look at this girl go!!
From the base of the stem, she's about 215 cm tall or so, which is 7' tall.
Gonna be one big spear cola up top, and lots of branches as well.
The branches have a beautiful shape, starting more horizontal but curling up to face the sky.
Sounds a bit like the long cola pheno of the ThaiFrican OJD mentioned.
This is one of the lower branches, and it's at the back, not a big one at all.
I think this is the top of one of the bigger branches.
This whole branch is not like a little tree itself, with her own side branches a foot long.
Taller girl still has stretch in her.
Her leaves are going from five-blade to three, but I'm not sure how much more she has.
Will she reach 250 cm = 8'? Maybe!
Medium Grail x ThaiFrican
Medium girl is a bit different.
She's hit about 160 cm or so, 5' I think.
Most of her stretch is done.
All the way down her branches she has lovely little flower tufts popping out.
Sounds more like the ThaiFrican spaced out foxtail colas, perhaps?
Let's have a look at one of those bud branches from the side.
The differences between these two phenos is becoming more obvious now they're flowering.
Peace and Love,
