i am going to put in the 600 watt and lower to 2 feet ? hopefully that is a good range and i will do the watering of outside pot edges from now on until i can water till minimal run off

Use the back of the hand test before exposing your plants to the lamp. Hold your hand under the lamp at the distance you want to use on the plants. If it is hot that is too close.

I used to start seedlings (and rooted clones) in 1 L pots under a 150 W MH / HID in a converted top-loading washing machine,
with the lights starting about 60 cm from the plants and letting them grow up into them.
It used to get pretty hot in there, and they stretched a bit at first, but were very strong.
Had max growth of 10 cm = 4" a day.
Vegged for about 2-3 weeks I think.
After that, into 15 L containers with 9 pots in 1 m2 under a 400 W MH / HID to flower them out.
Had better air circulation in the flower room.

My current grow where slow starters they looked stunned for the first 3 weeks then boom rapid growth 2 strawberry nuggets and 2 Sour crack 3 out of 4 of them are just fine now not the biggest but definitely not small and they have a lovely structure to them I'd say follow the advice given and wait and see what happens u might be surprised

hey all !! any one use gaia green dry amendments ? its getting close to my top dress day but since i havent been watering the full pot should i still be top dressing or hold off a little longer?

ill try getting a few pics up on monday to see if there is any differance in size. hard for me to tell seeing them every day

Never heard of this brand. Have you top dressed before this? How often? I usually top dress once with autos, at the end of week 4. A good mix should support up to a 90 day grow with just one top dressing. Twice is ok, more may be too much as your concentrating the nutrients at the top and they leach slowly, you could make the soil too hot at the surface. This also depends on pot size, organics in small pots works but requires more feeding By small pots I mean less than 3 gallons.

well heres a little update at 20 days since they popped soil .. still not where they should have been but we all make mistakes. i decided to not top dress since i havent been watering the full soil and there should be alot of gaia green dry amendment in the soil still.. if i do see any nutrient difficiency i will go buy a tea of some sort, light is max at 400 watts MH moved closer and i also topped the soil higher on the stem to help from the stretch. 3 of them seem to be doing better one lagging behind.

i bought pro mix hp with no nutes just mycroryzai (sp) and amended the soil myself with the gaia green veg and bloom at reccomended doses. and was supposed to top dress this monday. but figure maybe wait another week or two and then do it.
