Okay kool, I will get a little more info on carbon filters for small grow setups,

Thanks

Subbed. I'm going to follow your grow as I am interested in the dinafem fruit auto very much. Goodluck mate :)

Hi Guys,

So i am currently germinating my seeds ready for the pc grow, first time doing this so fingers crossed it goes OK, !!!

I will start a new thread for this grow when/if they pop!!

So,
I have got my cabinet for my grow sorted the dimensions are H. 2.4ft X W. 2ft X D. 1.25ft

I have also sorted out the fans & the carbon filter..

I did originally plan to build a CFL setup which i still am planning on, But i have got some extra money around me right now so i can afford a blackstar LED unit, with the dimensions above do you think i would be better getting the LED or staying with the CFL setup?

If you do suggest LED what size "Watt/volt" would be sufficient for this space?

Thanks for all your help so far its really has helped me allot..

HO t5's or leds will be the best options for heat you could use a big cfl (125w) but heat may be a issue

LEDs would be good but you may run into some height restrictions. The Blackstars are normally run around 15 - 20" above the plants in veg and 10 - 12" during flowering. You can run them lower but your node spacing will be tighter, which may not necessarily be a bad thing given the height of your box. CFLs will allow you to keep the lights a lot closer to the plants but they will generate more heat than the LEDs. If you do buy a BS, I'd recommend the 240 watt model for your space.

96w psf seem a bit OTT to me and in the bleaching zone the 180w is still 72w psf and is very high for led wattage

and losing 1ft to light space in a 2.4ft growspace is not a great option i would look for 1w leds if going the led route but think the spread from a t5 would be better

Actual drawn wattage on a BS 240 is about 135 watts, so about 45 watts per sq. ft., which is fine. In my experience the BS lights won't bleach, even when quite close to the canopy top.

rules of thumb are not based on drawn watts also drawn watts is not always a relation to light output effiency i can assure anyone my digi ballast is brighter than my coil but with a lower draw

whats the point of leds if a 240w led can only light a 2.5sqf pc when a 250w hps can light 5 sqf min

his room is 2.4 ft high take of light, light space and pot size will not give under 1ft of growing space

Hi guys,

I am just going to go with my CFL set up, I will consider buying a blackstar or T5 UNIT maybe for christmas, Thanks for some insight though,

So i checked my seeds after 22hrs and the Sweet Seeds Fast Bud was ready to be planted so went ahead and planted her.:D

The Dinafem Fruit has cracked very slightly so tomorrow it should be ready! I hope.

Peace..
