New Grower Student looking for some teachers!!

So i have a PC grow case arriving tomorrow which i plan to do my first ever grow which will be 1 Sweet seeds Fast Bud#2 Automatic & 1 DinaFem Fruit Automatic,I will be trying to Follow a mix of Fullduplex's/Micro.growers very in depth guides. I will be looking for help with this grow and from reading through some of the threads i no i am in the right place as there are some real talented growers here, I will start a thread for this grow next week when i get the case up and running and see what happens!! Just a little experiment really until I get my real setup done..

Basically after speaking to a few people and having the money at the moment, I am going to build a proper set up along side this grow so i can use the PC grow case for Veg/Clones/Party cup Play e.t.c ..

I am going for MDF to build the frame, The dimensions will be H.2ft x W.2ft x D. 1.25ft

The case will be fully lined with Mylar or reflex diamond reflective sheeting,

I am hopefully going to try and replicate the lighting system AndyBotwin uses in his box,

4 CFL bulbs in the center with two additional lights on the side. picture in the link below.

What kind of fans with the dimensions mentioned above do you think i should use? (To run as quite as possible)

Welcome to the New Growers forum. Sounds like a pretty good plan. One suggestion, make the box a little higher if you can. If you've got the room I think in the long run you will find things much easier if the box were higher, say 3' or 3.5' instead of 2. With more head room you won't have to worry about training them to stay low.

Hi Mad! Welcome!

Muddy took the words out of my mouth- try to go bigger if it's possible.
In those real small places, your best bet is the (very quiet) 12v computer fans, at least one for circulation inside and then a series of them for extraction, using a passive intake. These fans won't work with a carbon filter though, if you were going to use one. If you want to use a larger fan with a carbon filter, you'd have to have it outside the cab, which reduces your stealth factor to about zero...

Summer is tricky with the ambient temps complicating things. Can be a real problem. You can freeze water bottles to put inside the cab, in front of the passive intakes, so the air flows in and around the bottles, cooling it. The bottles perspire and cause humidity, which is good for young and vegging plants, but no good for mature flowering plants.

Studying micro's stuff is a good start, there are also many other small space growers out there as well.

Thanks for getting back to me guys,

I have remeasured my area and go to a maximum of 2.5ft in height,

So the fans. Do you think i should have

2x 80mm fans or 1 x 120mm for extraction
2x 80mm fans or 1 x 120mm for cooling

In regards to the carbon filter i am undecided, I don't want the place to smell of weed as it is a semi stealth grow, Do you think i will need one in a setup this size??

My pc grow unit arrived today so i hope to be growing by the end of the week, gonna start the germination process tomorrow or day after i think

I'd go for 3 or four 120mm fans for extraction. It's going to get real warm in there and you'll need it. (Assuming the rain stops some day up there..)
Use the smaller fans for circulation inside.
I don't know how those two strains smell, sorry. But some stink up the place pretty bad. Others you can't smell at all. I started off with a very small set-up, and couldn't use a real filter because of the 120mm fans I was using, so I searched for low odor strains in the seed-banks. Easy Ryder wasn't one of them, but I read a few times that it doesn't smell much and they're easy to grow -hence, the name- so I got them. Didn't smell a thing either time I grew them.

Hey man. We would be glad to help!(Me and my ten arms) I agree with the others on the space, a little higher would be best. Also agree with Noods on the exhaust fans. I fyou have enough air pulling out then you'll get negative pressure and enough fresh air will pull in passively through open ports with no fans. I do suggest a carbon filter for sure. Easy Ryder is one, but there are only a few and perhaps you want a stinky plant. And just to be safe too, can't be getting caught now can we? Nope.

Thanks for that info Man, Cant wait to get up and running, and we definatly cant be getting caught!!! So i will incorporate an carbon filter into the grow box, will the fans mentioned above have the power to efficiently run a carbon filter???

Depends on the filter. I don't have any micro growing experience like with small fans and all. Microgrower is one, shit I can't think of the others. When I do I will send them your way.
