Starting fresh.. I need help with everything.

Hello,
I understand what you're saying and I would like to try a couple of some good strains of sativa and a good strain of indica.. just for starters. I'm just at a loss as to how to start. I don't know what equipment to buy, I don't want to buy the wrong equipment, I want quality, but at a reasonable cost and so on. Is there an official guide with all of this type of info.?
What are the dimensions of the room where you want grow? And do you want to use a tent (which will control odors)? And what kind of budget do you have?

:welcome: and thanks for your service. Disabled vet myself....if I may put in my two cents...

I grow in promix hp (around 25 bucks a bale, I go through two bales a year on average), and in 5 gallon soft pots. I use greenleaf nutrients (budget friendly, easy to use, plus they'll give you a free sample of their megacrop), and grow under auto cobs (made in the USA). I used to grow in a 4x4 tent, usually 4 or 5 plants at a time (in a 5x5 now). This is a pretty easy grow style to get the hang of....

I hope you get things figured out soon, and can experience the joy of growing this amazing plant. Personally, I like to have a few indica and a few sativa strains around....you can get a pretty good tolerance build up if you are using the same strain all of the time...at which point the therapeutic effects start diminishing. Let me know if you have any questions or need help. Cannabis absolutely works for the things that ail the military body.....I use it solely to treat the things that need treated, and was able to get away from all of those pills the VA pushes. Good luck, bro. :pass:

Hiya @ZoSo if you have a look around the grow journals you'll get a good idea of setups folks are running, mostly they'll list their bits n bobs on page 1. Also some of us have tables in our tents to make them more user friendly. Welcome to AFN bud
Nice to meet you, sabelter.. thanks for the table tip and the journels heads up.

mmm, seemz ur feelin a bit trampled under foot, eh-? :smoking: well, there are so many diff factorz involved, and after the cowz come home, a whole lot of it boilz down to jus good ol' trial & error (lotz of errorz, haha) and experience...it'z a constant learning process, whether u've done one grow or a hundred...it'z all about finding your groove, and above all, never giving up ;)

so let'z see, off the top o' me head, are u in a legal state-? or wait, are u even in the statez-? lol :rolleyes2: either way, is stealth an issue-?...as far as smell, nozy neighborz/family, etc-? for instance, smell izn't an issue in me own grow, so a charcoal filter izn't needed...i'm basically a semi-micro grower, on an extreme budget, so a good part of my setup is old school diy & ghetto, lol...the point being that good growz can def be achieved without havin to spend an arm & a leg ;) ...or at least not yet  trust me, once u get started, "the list" never endz, lol

ok, anyway, there are nevertheless certain itemz u def wanna have in ur toolbox, such as a good ph pen & soil ph meter...and of course, there'z the whole soil or hydro thing, and bein ur first go, i'd suggest soil...and yes, u'll get a thouzand diff suggestionz on what kinda soil to uze, but truth to tell, dirt is dirt, lol :rolleyes2: the whole key to it is nutrientz really, and again, if u wanna make thingz simple the first go round, i'd suggest goin with Megacrop, made by Greenleaf Nutrientz...great stuff!

and of course -> lightz  that one i'll defer to otherz, as i'm by no meanz a light guru, lol...hell, i grow under a combo of cfl, t5'z & reg household led bulbz :p but hey, it workz ;) u'll also need fanz...intake, exhaust, and a couple for general airflow in the tent...plantz hate still, stagnant air & good airflow is all-impotante'

now, as to strain choice, i'm a diehard indica man meself, so my reco'z will be a bit bias, lol...for indicaz, i alwayz reco NL, blueberry, and/or granddaddy purple  however, one sativa dom i def like is tangie

and this is turnin into a book & i need to get to bed, lol...i'll be followin along, but otherz will be chimin in too, and like sab said, g'head & cruize around the site...jus take ur time & sponge up sum info, cuz there'z a lot of it here, lol...for now, i'll leave u with theze morselz -> 1) the plantz will tell u everything u need to know...it'z all about learning how to read & listen to them, 2) KISS...Keep It Simple Stupid...don't overthink, overanalyze, and def don't overwater! and last, but by no meanz least -> 3) p a t i e n c e grasshopper, p a t i e n c e  ppp
Thanks for taking the time.. I do appreciate it. I live in San Diego where I can grow up to six plants. I live in a small one bedroom apt. on the top 3rd floor and I'll situate the tent in the corner of my room by the window.

Kinda excited for ya Zoso! Its a really nice, therapeutic hobby to get involved in, remember everybody here was where you are now as far as a grow goes and everyday is still a schoolday for all of us :pass:
Ya know, my depression has taken away a lot of my passion for my past hobbies through the years, but this has brought a new vigor that I've needed for a long time. :smoking: I'm looking forward to this like a school kid is to summer vacay.

Hi pal nice to meet you I grow in a 4x4 tent your going to need a light of some kind and a rvk or ruck fan I would go for and a carbon filter for smell and dependant on what medium your planning on using food ect and pots I know it's a lot to take in but we will have you up and running in no time :bighug::pass:also in a 4x4 tent you should be able to get away with 4 plants that's my normal amount
Hey man..
Can you make recommendations on a tent, LED light fixture, etc.? Thanks.

The room is 11x11. The room doesn't have a bed, but a big La-Z-Boy. I want a 4x4 tent, but I may still settle on a smaller size. I have the money to buy what's needed, but I want it to be reasonable.. that's all.

Bro,
As heres a link for you to check out some strains for nephropathy another site the easiest way to get yourself going for a good crop is a bubble bucket ( plastic bucket with aquarium airpump and stone in the base ) the roots hang in and all you need to do is change the water every week or 2 ... you can even make them yourself... you can get all caught up in different styles of grow- living soil coco coir dwc rdwc and the list goes on but reality is us disabled veterinarians :nono: just want to sit and look at the pretty green thing getting bigger under the bright glowy thing while listening to the humm of bubbles and thinking of what a shithole Fallujah is.

my advice is get a 20l bucket and an aquarium bubbler and an elcheapo light from the local hardware store and be on your way for $50 tomorrow- get cracking on while you ponder the complexities of the best lights grow-styles and nutrients etc .... out
Hey man, thanks for that link. It came in handy. I will research what you recommended.

Thanks Frank and thanks for your service as well.
I appreciate those recs.. that's what I need, after all. How about a rec on a tent? Gorilla is too expensive, but I don't want to end up with a 4x4 sieve masquerading as a tent, either.

Hiya ZoSo! No need to spend big on a tent I found access was most important when I bought mine, its a mid range 4x4. I have a similar sized room so picked one that has a door on three sides rather than one that opens completely at the front and if you can go to a store and try before you buy so much the better
