hey zoso best of luck on this canna adventure your about to start on some good advice given above best bit of advice i can give it keep it simple to start with heres a list of stuff id buy if i was starting over again

EXTRACTION : this is fairly straight forward get a 4inch fan and carbon filter brands arent too important here but i have seen a very nice and well priced one in the usa called ac infinity come with humidty and temp controlls

LIGHTING this is a hot topic and there are about 100 different ways to do it the cheapest way is probably a good old hps set up but that comes with heat issues so a led might be a better option depending on your funds cheap option but still gives great results would be the new mars hydro lights the ts and sp models not so much there older lights you would need two of these in a 4 x 4 for flowering

if you have money to spend then i would go with company's like chilled tech / arden lighting /hlg leds expensive but top quality

POTS AND NUTRIANTS
your probably going to want 5gallon pots smart pots or fabric pots are great but plastic are fine also
coco or soil that will have to be up to you there are pros and cons to both i started with soil and moved to coco i much rather it than soil but thats just me when it comes to nutrients thats also a mess of 100 different companys basically selling the same thing i seen someone above mention mega crop iv seen some great grows with this stuff and its cheap as chips as we say over here might be a option but really whatevr you can get locally to you and there is a decent amount of info online about for example canna nutrients /advanced nutrients or remo nutrients all good options

STRAINS TO GROW
not sure how easy it is to get seeds in the usa but heres a i know oregan elite seeds carrys quite a few breeders and cannuck seeds if they ship to you guys

durban poison
super silver haze
INDICAS to try
afgani kush or a hybrid of this

blueberry


thats all the basic info i can think of right now for ya eventually you will need airflow fans and maybe a dehumidifier but that can wait for now

I appreciate those recs.. that's what I need, after all. How about a rec on a tent? Gorilla is too expensive, but I don't want to end up with a 4x4 sieve masquerading as a tent, either.

As for a tent...my 4x4 was a mars hydro and did the trick just fine. I got my 5x5 off of amazon and couldn't be happier. Its a "vivosun".....it wasn't any more expensive than the mars tent, has thicker sidewalls....which means it will "suck" in the sides less when the doors are closed (my old mars would suck the sides in so much that it would make my growing footprint in the neighborhood of 3x3 or so). Plus the vivosun has a little window on the front I can peak through without opening the door. Its not really a necessity, but is nice to have.

for that money id probably go the hps route with a cool tube to keep the temps down theres loads of cheap leds on amazon but i couldn't recommend any of them with confidence this is the cheapest led i can find that i seen good results from

What is your overall budget? I'd like to help get you lined out as cheaply as possible if you are cool with that.

Lighting for a 4x4 can get expensive, have you considered a 2x4?

Also, how disabled are you? I'm not disabled but a flood and drain table let's me feel my age rather than 20 years older from bending and getting on my knees. I run a 4x4 myself with a 3x3 tray.

The room is 11x11. The room doesn't have a bed, but a big La-Z-Boy. I want a 4x4 tent, but I may still settle on a smaller size. I have the money to buy what's needed, but I want it to be reasonable.. that's all.

A lot of growers buy tent package deals to start. Should be plenty of info in here that you can read about. I use Vortex inline fans and Phresh carbon filters. The have served me very well indeed. For lights I use the outstanding Autocobs www.cobshop.net. I also have two Quantum boards. Both are very popular.

You'll need the inline fan, carbon filter and 6" clip on fan for the basics. I used the 6" inline fan and carbon filter in my 4x4 tents in the past. Make sure the carbon filter CFM is equal to or higher (my preference) than the inline fan CFM. The majority of my items come via Amazon.

For pots, I use Smart (fabric) pots and Airpots. There are knock offs for both that are cheaper. I have several thermometers that I use in my tent with the most important thermometer placed next the plants canopy throughout grow. I use a thermometer with remote prob, so I can monitor my temps downstairs. You will also need a Ph pen, EC or PPM pen and PH up/down solution.There is more, but we can cover that when the time comes.
