Is it an ok idea to do the following with autos.

After germinating, start out in a solo cup that has the bottom cut out, holes in the sides, and a full top to bottom cut down the side of the cup so that I can easily peel and remove the cup shell right off when its time to get rid of the solo cups. The solo cup will have a blend of HP promix and coco in it and I'll use only water at first.

The pots I use for indoor are all 7 gallon fabric.

I planned on putting in a super soil in the bottom half of the pots so I don't have to add nutes when watering and hopefully keep things simple for me. Then the top half would be the same blend of HP Promix and coco. I'm not sure if I should add some EWC to the top half or not so suggestions appreciated.

When the seedlings outgrow the cup, peel off the cup and transplant in to the pots with the two different layers. And then in theory all I have to do is water and maintain the temp, humidity, lights etc.

Hello, sorry for resurrecting this. I was wondering if you did it and how it went. I am considering all the same strategies. I found the peat pots and even coco pots were restricting growth (maybe--could have been other things). I was looking for information on stacking soil without the use of transplanting, but I had thought about this type of magic removable cup idea too.

Can't help with the stacking soil, but I always start in double solos, about 2 weeks they move to their final home with the inside solo. Feel it helps reduce the transplant shock, and raises the plant a few inches as well. Helps with feedings etc. Probably close to 100 plants run this way now.
