Indoor Sour 60 "Strong" Under Hydro Grow 21X-PRO LED Grow Light

Day28

For all intents and purposes this will serve as Day 28 . Progress has come along quite nicely since last week's update, with little flowers popping up all over the plant and nice little colas beginning to form. I just got out my measuring tape, and from the base of the light to the lowermost bud (keep in mind I trimmed the bottom) is 13". In diameter, this little girl measures about 7" from one side to the next, keeping herself right inside the core footprint of the 21X-PRO. :thumbs:

In total there are 13 different "Colas" or branches where buds are forming. It appears as though there will be about 21 "buds" once the flowers have finished joining together, as they always do post-stacking. The head cola is currently 5" in length, and the top is showing a bit of burn from growing into the light at times. Nothing to cause worry though... The light itself is presently positioned about 1-2" from the top of the head cola, where it has been for the most part since my update last week.

She drank 2 complete reservoirs of water this week, one of which was plain water and the other with a dilute mix of Advanced Nutrients Iguana Juice Bloom, Voodoo Juice, and Bud Candy. The light has been on 24/7 since day 1, and draws 28W as tested with my kill-a-watt. Room temp remains a steady 70-76 degrees Fahrenheit depending on what time of day it is. Not ideal, but it works (then again nothing is ideal in this grow lol!). I'm still very impressed so far by what has been accomplished with so little effort. Day 35

During the past week this little Sour 60 drank another 2 reservoirs of water (a little over a liter each), one with nutes and the other without. It seems she is about finished with her vertical stretch, as she has only grown an inch or two in the past week. She's managed to start bulking up quite nicely and is already showing decent THC content. From my count we're a little over 3 weeks away from harvest and things look promising. Enjoy the photos

I think for a room as large as you're looking for you would need a much bigger light lol! I just bought this one to run a small-scale experiment that is turning out quite well. If I were covering a big area I probably would have got the 336X-PRO, but maybe that will come in the future.

lol , its gonna be interesting to see if you beat that 1g per watt , that seriously is quality, sour 60 buds up really fast after day 40 and you can literally watch those flowers grow

i'm subbed, just to see how this experiment turns out, i like the idea, if we can spread the word that growing doesn't have to be that complicated maybe more people would grow, and more growers means we're winning the war against cannabis

Day 42

I went away this week just before my normal update, so I had a friend stop by my office to shoot this video (as you can get 20% off on the next order for creating a journal like this with updates once per week).

The plant is doing very well but still has a lot of "fattening" to do in the buds. I also installed a CO2 monitor in the room that I've used in the past just to see what the levels are running in here. In the mornings when I come in the CO2 level is about 120ppm (way below atmospheric), and during the day it reaches a maximum of 600ppm with myself in the room. So for about 8-10 hours a day she gets "enrichment" and the rest of the time she's way below what she'd get outside. Still doing mighty well I'd say! Day 51

I don't think a day goes by where this little Sour 60 doesn't impress me. For only 28W I can't believe how big the top bud is becoming, and we still have at least 9 days to go! All of the buds are fattening nicely, the THC content is phenomenal, and the leaves are turning yellow and then purple (yum). The plant is also growing within the core footprint of this little light, and doesn't extend beyond it. This has to show some level of plant intelligence lol!

The feeding schedule has been off for the past week with no nutes, and some of the pistils are beginning to turn orange. I'm going to give her one more round of weak nutes before she finishes, and then straight water. I can't wait to see the root mass in the end, as I suspect it has taken up the entire container. I think that due to the nature of this pot (auto-water) the plant is responding similarly to a DWC system wherein they don't need huge root systems, they simply adapt to absorbing from the nutrient solution they rest in... Guess we'll just wait and see. Enjoy the photos!

Day 59

It seems this little Sour 60 is starting to finish it's cycle, as the flowers are beginning to form points all over the plant. From the base of the plant to the emitting surface of the LED, there is exactly 22". The head cola is about 7.5" long, and is bigger than I've seen on other LED Grows using 300W+ lights! This 21X-PRO consumes only 28W, and is advertised as a "supplemental model", however I think I've proven this light is capable of far more than supplementing! Best of all this grow had the least input physically possible in terms of monitoring the grow (meaning anyone could replicate these results). All I did was buy a Gro-Ball for $25, put a seed in it (about $10), hung a $250 light over it, and gave it nutes every other feeding (didn't even measure the nutes). It's amazing what can be done without trying!

I will let the plant go another 3-5 days to let all the flowers finish before I chop her. I'm not sure if I'll reach my goal of 1gpw, but either way I'm happy with the results. I mean seriously if I get the 28g I'm shooting for, that's going to save me $320-$360 from buying it at the dispensary! If I can produce this 28g even 5x per year with these little autoflowers under this light, that saves me over $1500 a year at the dispensary! I'm definitely going to use a larger light for my next grow and am deciding between the 189X-PRO or 336X-PRO. I'll make sure to put some effort into the big grow however, so we can see what is truly possible with these lights. This time I set the plant up in a room with better lighting to get some nice "natural" photos along side the normal "LED" photos. Enjoy the pics!
