Son of a Pollen Chucker!! It's Too Late To Turn Back Now!!

Sooo! I pollinated the girls on the 25th of July. The Almach is on week 9 of life and week 6 since pollination. The Chemdogging about a week behind in life, and on week 6 since pollination. I only dusted the main colas and 2 side branches on both. I can't find a seed sack even close to ripe enough to test. But those are all on lower sections no where near where I dusted. The chem is about 10% amber and can go anytime as far as buds are concerned. The Almach is still working. Lost of clear trichs still.

My questions are still about how to test/check to see if any seeds are even in the buds.. And how long to wait. Is there a such thing as waiting too long? I've read it takes 4-5 weeks from pollination to get viable seeds. Am I ok going another week or two? That would make it 7-8 weeks since I dusted them.

You should be able to feel how tight the buds are if they are full of seeds. Like a brand new hacky sack.

Thanks for the response!! The main colas are solid masses! No squeeze or give in them. Im assuming there are seeds burried in there. Lol. I just dont see any seeds protruding out or calyx that are accessible. Im not even sure if I SHOULD see any random calyx because I only dusted the main cola and one sode branch. I don't think that would pollinate the entire plant. Im tempted to chop one just to see whats inside the bud. I'm trying to be patient. Lol.

Sooo.. My first attempt at making seeds was complete failure! Lmao! I learned a ton though. I got about 5 seeds from the 2 plants and all 5 were light green in color. I think I know what the issue was though.. I stored the pollen in the freezer and when I dusted the plants right away and threw the pollen back in the freezer. I recently read online that when you store pollen in the freezer, you need to wait 15 mins or so for it to thaw out and get to room temps. So I tried again 2 nights ago. I let the pollen sit out for 20 mins before I used it, and dusted the lowers of a Sweet Seeds Dark Devil. I also dusted at the start of preflower this time.. About 2 weeks sooner than last time. And tonight I think I'm going to start messing around with cloning. But one thing I wont do is quit. Lol.. I will figure this out dammit! And I will be a better grower for it. Lol

Your pretty safe at 5 weeks, tis what I do. I just grab off a bean and peal off the shell to see. I've found them ready in 4 weeks on a lightly pollinated lady.

When I bred with photos I would dust my buds at week 3 or 4 then let them,flower,for like 9 weeks. I always ended up with fat brown seeds. I never used frozen pollen so I can't speak on it. I would however pollinate a few weeks after they flower right before the buds start to look like they're turning into buds but after they look just like little blossoms.... If that makes any sense. Anyway man pollen chucking is the shit especially if you do it for fun and for your pallet. Good luck bro I hope this can translate into auto breeding as I plan to dabble with it in the future.

I've been using live plants.i did however get some GG#4 auto fem clone pollen to make a few seeds.it had been in the fridge for months then at room temperature for a week . I've got a few clones that I plan on pollenating with it next. I know from my limited experience that you can get seeds if there are any white pistils in any stage of life,i just keep them alive until they look dead ....ive let them go as long as 105+days on 65-75 day strains. If u do a limited pollenating earlier the better . even pre flower pistils can make seed from what I've heard. U can squeeze a bud and feel hard lil knots in the calyx a few weeks after they take but dont get too rough or u might hurt the babies.the prettiest beans have dead looking calyx all swollen and splitting. Here are pics of the Dark Devil I dusted at the first sign of preflowers. I hit the four lowest bud sites. Hopefully this time it works a little bit better!

That pollen will carry up to the main as well, not fully seed it, but you'll find some in there, that's the time I pollinate, right at pre flower, but I do open pollination, shake the hell out of the male lol. You know those single calyxes on the stalks? After about 6 wks from pollinating, you can pluck one off and there should be a seed inside to gauge the ripeness. Grading the seeds is not a fun task, I shucked over 1000 seeds from a 12 inch plant, 488 were grade a, in threw the rest in the trash lol. Good luck this time and have fun man!
