Hey guys. Just got home from having oral surgery under sedation so am a bit woozy. Went to check my solo cups to see if any of the babies had sprouted yet and I accidentally knocked over one of the cups. About an inch of soil and a baby sprout fell out. The sprout has a little head and there is a loop below that. Should I just put the little loop part back under the dirt and prop it up or bury the whole thing just under the dirt? Any chance it will make it? I can't believe I f*cked up already. Sigh.

I knocked mine over a few times when it was in the soil before it sprouted. Just pop it back in & see what happens :)

I believe it's a 100% fair competition.:headbang: You get to choose your own grow method. :shrug:The dwc guys will have a more tedious job at hand.:chef: Where as the soil growers plants might not get as large but they are easier grown. :greenthumb:I believe it's all up to you on how much time you want to invest and what kind of great ideas you can come up with.:confused1::poof: Im loving all the crazy hydro set ups I'm seeing. It sparked a great idea for me. I'll be revealing my set-up once complete.

Im not opposed to requesting a cup bottom pic.
And you can also tell if the roots were really in or out of the cup. If they stay in. You will see a root bound root ball. Wrapping around cup.

If cut roots. We will see roots go to cup and cut off instead of curl and wrap.

But i do understand what you mean. Which is also why its a beauty contest and not a size contest. I feel you though some of these dwc set ups can be a bit intimidating.
I have ran enough of these to tell you the only way roots are not coming out is if you screen the shit out of it. That did not even work for me last year I just trimmed the roots when they poked out every now and then. I think people are just going to far with this your roots are coming out of the cup. As I understood it originally the spirit of the rule is so some one does not just fill the cup with hydroton and shred the cup up and drop it in a DWC and get a normal size plant. Have people take full cup pictures and trim the roots. Let's not over complicate a really cool contest. I think the best part of this is it is on a small scale and people can experiment and try new things that can improve thier skills in the long run.

I am sure @Renaissance Redneck can correct me if I am wrong.

What @islandgrower said.

"Plant it with the cotelydons just above the soil and water in you should be ok"

Ok I've gone back 36 pages so far as I know some have started their grows. If you've started and I missed you please tag @bushmasterar15 @Ash-a-Ton with pic so I can keep the spreadsheet updated on who's in. I have 43 confirmed with seeds started/growing. Thank you

What do you think?

Looking good, huh?:gary:

As Kramer on Seinfeld stated only minutes after starting the Contest, I'm out! LOL

Yes indeed She is dead. Most already knew this!!! LOL Did I mention that I am visually impaired? :goauto:

Oh well, Lessons learned.

Carry on Friends! Good luck!

I will keep following.:vibes:
this suits my perspective, hehe

i've planted loops and they did fine

I think everyone should just be worrying about making it through the end of the grow. This is not as easy as some are thinking. Everything is easy right now when they are small, things get alot more tricky later on. Seriously, I don't think there is even a prize for this contest. Just for fun is how this whole thing started out years ago. It really is more a learning experience than anything else. I guess I'm not going to freak out if I see a couple root tips sticking out the bottom of someones cup. Karma for everyone, and great luck.
