Hello one and all i am growing in soil how dry do you let the soil get?? very dry, dry, slighty dry, moist and is it the hole pot or just part needs to be dry any help greatfully recieved

You didn't mention which "soil"...but I know of no mediums that should dry at all. Personally, I use bio bizz light mix (a "soil-less medium") water/feed when my moisture meter indicates needs. Whole pot moist is my goal.

here at home i go by weight of the container. i can tell when they are thirsty by lifting the pot and feeling how light it is.

another good method is the finger poke. stick your finger in the dirt and go down about 1-1.5 inches. is it damp? if so wait longer.

The plant will tell you when she NEEDS water because she will go limp. Hit it with water nice and slow (so it has time to absorb) and she will recover. this is actually a good form of stress provided you don't go too long and have too much root loss due to dry soil.

Please don't quote me as if I said BBLM is like coco. Certainly isn't. You should know the difference if you intend to use either.

Sorry if you think i was implying that as that was not the case i was simply asking if i should water it like coco that why i put yes&no hoping you would say yes or no so i could ask how should i deal with it.I was thanking you for your info as i did not know

My rule of thumb with my 5 gallon pots is to water when I get within one pound of dry weight and keep below one pound of wet weight. I use a bathroom scale with me as the tare until I get a feel for weights. This keeps my grows from the many watering too often problems I see on these threads- pests, mold, mildew, root rot, nute and Ph fiascoes.
